As a Technical Product Manager on Player Platform, you’ll lead passionate cross-functional teams to create innovative internal and external tools that unlock Riot’s ability to deliver player value. By leading engineers, and user experience you’ll drive development, smash through obstacles, and push projects across the finish-line. You’ll meet and exceed expectations by helping concept, deliver, enhance, and influence projects at every stage of production. You’ll do all of this in service of an ambitious transformation of Riot’s publishing infrastructure and asset delivery into a highly adaptable, efficient and effective machine that increases Riot’s ability to deliver player and community value and reduces the complexity and workload across publishing, content operations, localization, and feature development. Our mission is to build a feature or service once so that all of Riot’s games can benefit, reducing complexity across regions, platform surfaces, and channels and increasing each game’s ability to focus on delivering incredible gameplay experiences for our players.

Player Experience Tools & Services (PETS) is a team within Player Platform accountable for Riot’s SDK, 3rd Party Edge, Owned Channel Experience, Asset and Data Pipeline, Publishing Tools, and Account and Social Services. As the Senior Technical Product Manager for PETS, you will partner with game teams, content operations, publishing, and platform channel teams to build and simplify our digital asset pipeline, our content management system, and provide an API surface to deliver those assets or content across Riot’s games and channels. Your expertise in internal tooling, asset delivery, and product will mean that the complexity of Rioter publishing and localization operations is reduced, integration and development of features against our digital asset management system is simple and performant, that stakeholders and operators are ready for product delivery, and that relationships are prioritized foremost. You will report to the Director, Product Management of Player Platform Player Experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Create team’s product vision and problem space definition, while developing and managing the product roadmap for PETS content management system, metadata asset pipeline, and publishing services API, all aligned with Player Experience, Game, and Content Operation’s strategy
  • Define requirements / write-product requirements for new CMS and DAM features or new products within problem space, ensuring alignment with stakeholders, dependents, and dependencies and effectively communicating and documenting those things with engineering, design, insights, publishing, content operations, localization, and production 
  • Partner with the publishing, content operations, and channel teams to understand their pain points or assets needs and translate them into actionable product requirements and validate requirements and designs for continual tool and API improvement, communicating technical tradeoffs to a non-technical audience
  • Develop an understanding of and empathy for our operational partners and integrated development customers, and build relationships with partner teams across Riot Games, particularly within publishing, content operations, and Player Experience channel teams in order to make Rioter and player-focused decisions
  • Analyze Rioter tooling and API usage data and identify opportunities to improve the operational, developer or player experience, and use that data to refineOKRs with Player Platform and KPIs with key partners, setting clear expectations for quantifiable impact and accountability. 
  • Negotiate with vendors and product / engineering from contracted software integrations in order to drive Riot’s outcomes on their roadmaps (Bynder, Sanity, etc.)

Required Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of 6 years of relevant product experience
  • A solid foundation in content management, digital asset management, tooling design, qualitative and quantitative data analysis, and API driven features across channels 
  • Product visioning and development done against laddered objectives and key indicators to drive real product impact 
  • Technical bachelor’s or master’s degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Understanding of player/customer needs within complex audience segments and the ability to discern needs from wants
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex topics to audiences with little-to-no context, conveying nuances effectively to lead multiple software development teams at a visioning and development level

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience collaborating with game, platform, infrastructure, publishing, and ops teams
  • A history of partnering with creative stakeholders and technical teams in gaming, media, or similar fields
  • Experience with Riot’s out of game experience as well as core game publishing
