DIRECTV is seeking an experienced and strategic IT Technical Portfolio Manager to oversee and ensure successful delivery of key initiatives in business-aligned portfolios of work. This critical role will partner with IT team members and stakeholders across the company to understand portfolio needs and deliver outcomes that support company goals and objectives. The position is accountable for overseeing the successful delivery of all key business-sponsored initiatives, ensuring that all IT teams deliver on their commitments across various portfolios, including strategic initiatives and business-supporting work. This governance role requires expertise in managing complex IT programs and maintaining strong partner relationships to drive technological advancement and business value.

Here's what you’ll do:

  • Oversee the governance, execution, and delivery of complex IT programs and initiatives (70%):
    • Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT programs across multiple teams.
    • Develop and implement program governance frameworks and methodologies.
    • Monitor program progress, identify risks and issues, and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Ensure programs are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve dependencies and conflicts.
    • Lead program steering committees and decision-making forums.
  • Manage governance, communications, and partner relationships (30%):
    • Establish and maintain effective governance structures for the IT portfolio.
    • Develop and implement communication strategies to keep stakeholders informed.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key business partners and IT stakeholders.
    • Provide regular status updates and reporting to executive leadership.
    • Facilitate alignment between IT initiatives and business objectives.
    • Manage stakeholder expectations and ensure transparency across all IT initiatives.
  • Additional responsibilities:
    • Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps and prioritization frameworks.
    • Lead resource allocation and capacity planning across the IT portfolio.
    • Implement portfolio management tools and processes to improve visibility and decision-making.
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains.
    • Mentor and develop team members in program and portfolio management practices (matrixed).
    • Stay informed about emerging technologies and industry trends.

What you’ll need to be successful:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5 – 7 years of experience in IT portfolio management, program management, or related roles.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex IT programs and portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of IT governance frameworks and portfolio management methodologies.
  • Experience with program management tools and techniques (e.g., MS Project, Jira, ServiceNow).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience influencing without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in stakeholder management and building strong partner relationships.
  • Knowledge of Agile and traditional project management methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and development processes.
  • Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, ITIL, SAFe) are a plus.

This IT Technical Portfolio Management position offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned IT leader to shape and drive the successful delivery of critical IT initiatives. The ideal candidate will combine strategic vision with hands-on program management expertise to ensure alignment between IT investments and business objectives. This role requires a dynamic individual who can navigate complex organizational structures, build strong relationships, and maintain governance while driving execution of challenging IT programs.

May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data. Qualified applicants with arrest and conviction will be considered for employment in accordance with local ordinances and state law.

This role requires a minimum but is not limited to approximately 10% travel. 

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the contiguous United States. #LI-Remote

It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. 

  

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 

  

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $116,375 - $211,255 

Low (N1): $116,375 - $174,515

Mid (N2): $122,500 - $183,700

High (N3): $134,750 - $202,070

Top (N4): $140,875 - $211,255
