What does this team do?

Our US membership business serves over 600k paying subscribers to help make them smarter, happier and richer. You would be joining a high-performance front-end development team delivering rich, engaging web experiences to millions of users monthly in the fintech and media space. We value innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence, focusing on UI/UX-driven development. As a remote workforce, we keep in sync using Slack, Zoom, Jira, and agile practices.

What would you do in this role?

This position is for the person that enjoys working with the latest tech and building amazing products. The Motley Fool is a place where you can do your best work surrounded by people who enthusiastically support your success. 

The Technical Lead - US Membership will help evolve our newest data driven expressions seen by our US customers. This person will primarily develop using NextJs and TypeScript. The expectation is that thoughtful and high quality code is developed on a daily basis. Supporting this position are teams of developers, designers, product owners, and project managers. Also supporting this position are numerous other teams such as Cloud Ops and Cyber Security. 

Over the past 15 months we have drastically upgraded our technological capabilities to enhance our offerings. We believe in providing the tools and support needed for our technology practitioners to be as successful and impactful as possible. From a tooling standpoint, we use Claude, Github CoPilot, Chat GPT, and Cursor.sh. If there is a tool we don’t already have available, we have teams that can investigate additional tools.

What do you need to apply?

  • Expertise in NextJs, React, TypeScript and Vanilla JS
  • Experience building medium to large-scale web applications using NextJs; Experience with self hosted NextJS
  • Experience with Cloud Infrastructure (AWS) 
  • Experience with site performance metrics
  • The ability to break complex tasks into more digestible smaller tasks and proven comfortability interfacing with both technical and non-technical folks at all levels
  • Understand that understanding the product takes more than just understanding code
  • Experience with Auth0, GraphQL, Docker, Figma - Dev Mode, Css and Tailwind
  • Experience building modern web architectures, working with CDNs and other technology providers to speed up site performance and any use of AI tooling for development
  • Solid understanding of UX concepts and product design 

It would be nice if you had... 

  • Past roles within investing, finance or content-heavy industries
  • Experience with NodeJs, Cloudflare Pages, Microsoft Playwrightm Cypress.io, Sanity, Wagtail, React Native, Data Dog, Sentry, AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, AWS S3 (or similar)
