The Technical Editor is responsible for editing and reviewing all written deliverables to ensure correct spelling, technical accuracy, clarity, and professionalism. This position ensures that all content adheres to Social Security Administration (SSA) publication requirements and compliance with established writing guidelines. The Technical Editor collaborates closely with technical staff and subject matter experts to verify the accuracy of information and resolve ambiguities in documentation. Additional responsibilities include reviewing and revising reports, manuals, presentations, correspondence, training materials, and other program deliverables to enhance readability, consistency, and compliance with contractual standards. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong editing skills, high attention to detail, proficiency with editing software, and the ability to work under deadlines while managing multiple documents at various stages of review.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Edit and review all written deliverables for spelling, grammar, technical accuracy, clarity, and professionalism.
• Ensure all documents conform to SSA publication requirements and writing guidelines.
• Collaborate with technical staff and subject matter experts to verify information accuracy and resolve ambiguities.
• Revise reports, manuals, training materials, presentations, and correspondence for conformity, readability, and style.
• Maintain document version control and track changes throughout the review and approval process.
• Ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, and organization across all project documentation.
• Apply feedback from team leads and SSA representatives, maintaining compliance with project and contractual standards.
• Support quality assurance of final deliverables to ensure submission readiness.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with 0–2 years relevant editing or technical writing experience, or high school diploma/GED with 6–8 years of related experience.
• Strong command of written English, including grammar, punctuation, and style.
• Detail-oriented with proven ability to ensure accuracy in written materials.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and document editing tools (such as track changes in Word, Adobe Acrobat).
• Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Familiarity with government or SSA documentation requirements is preferred.
• Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a SSA Public Trust Clearance
