Sony Pictures Animation is an animation studio based in Los Angeles, California, creating both feature animation and animated series with artists from around the world.  We pride ourselves on empowering filmmakers to lead the creative process, and allowing the hand of the artist to be truly felt, with the goal of producing bold and innovative visual storytelling!

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain custom pipeline tools for episodic CG production.
  • Interface with various teams and stakeholders during dailies to help prioritize needs, guide development, and document workflows & processes.
  • Support show needs and workflows with tooling, debugging, and optimization
  • Maintain show delivery pipelines using Aspera & CiMedia with external vendors
  • Seek out scalable workflows tailored to high-volume episodic pipelines, identifying bottlenecks and implementing solutions that best fit production needs.
  • Translate creative needs into technical implementations by bridging communication between production, artists, and engineering teams
  • While the TD may contribute across all shows, they will be primarily assigned to two specific shows where their responsibilities will be focused.

Qualifications:

  • 4+ Years developing custom tools and workflows for CG within an animation, VFX or Game studio Environment
  • Expertise developing with Python using best practices and common libraries such as PyQt/PySide, PyTest, & Requests.
  • Familiar with DCCs like Maya, Katana, Houdini, Nuke, Unreal, etc.
  • Familiarity with Shotgrid/ Asset Flow Tracker.
  • Experience with dev tools like Bash, Git, Github, Jenkins
  • Experience with USD and USD APIs
  • Bonus: Additional programming languages. ie- C++, Rust, JavaScript, MySQL or others.

The anticipated base salary for this position is $45/hour to $70/hour. This role qualifies for benefits pursuant to the collective bargaining agreement. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors.
