As a Technical Content Developer, you will create sophisticated computer-graded assessments based on the pedagogy and learning objectives of Cengage's market-leading textbooks. You will review and edit authored content for style and accuracy, define and code the grading requirements, and author contextual remediation messages to help students correct their assignments in one or more mathematics disciplines.   

What you'll do here:

  • Understand pedagogical intent of teaching materials and translate those materials into interactive content for online learning platforms (OLPs).

  • Preserve and inject quality into the technical content you develop by ensuring that content is intentionally designed, based in real-world experiences, and personalized to the individual learner.

  • Develop technical content that is inclusive and accessible to all learners, adhering to all Cengage accessibility standards.

  • Learn and apply several programming languages and tools (such as Perl, HTML, LaTeX, etc.) to create and review content for the WebAssign platform.

  • Accurately estimate, plan, and communicate with team members and managers on work and project progress to ensure deliverables are met.

  • Facilitate effective collaboration as a productive member of a cross-functional Agile project team.

  • Train, assist, and guide other team members.

  • Train third-party offshore vendors in basic technical content development tasks and vet the quality of their work.

  • Proactively identify and suggest areas for change or improvement within the project team.

  • Continually improve technical skills and display aptitude for learning new tasks.

  • Participate in supporting activities such as resolving customer-facing errors, developing tools and efficiencies, writing bug reports, team building, maintaining documentation, etc.  

Skills you will need here:

  • Subject-matter expertise in one or more undergraduate-level mathematics disciplines

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Proven ability to independently balance multiple tasks and priorities  

Preferred skills:

  • High-school or post-secondary teaching experience

  • Graduate degree in a STEM discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Experience with Perl, JavaScript, or similar programming languages

  • Experience with HTML, LaTeX, or CSS

  • Knowledge of discipline-specific programs and tools

  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG)

  • Experience with vendor management   

Education and experience requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics or another STEM discipline, or equivalent experience

  • Two years' experience in developing technical or educational content (or similar)

The full base pay range has been provided for this position. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.  Sales roles often incorporate a significant incentive compensation program beyond this base pay range.

$46,400.00 - $62,000.00 USD
