The mission of Technical Art on Teamfight Tactics (TFT) is to establish and improve the systems, tools, rigs, and workflows that unleash the creativity of our artists and allow the production of the best possible art content for our players and for our future.

As a Manager of Technical Art, you will lead and support defining the Technical Art needs across different creative and technical teams on the product. You will partner with Art Leads to inform on best practices and pipelines, workflow, and asset production so artists can work efficiently and without technical hurdles in production. You will work with fellow managers of Technical Art and Technical Art Directors across the studio to ensure healthy and consistent best practices and support across the discipline.

As a Manager of Technical Art on the TFT team, you will work with the TFT Art Direction group to improve and uphold the technical quality of the project’s content creation pipelines. You’ll help maintain a healthy Technical Art team on the product, advocating for their craft, personal, and professional growth. You will work with the Technical Art, Art, and Engineering teams on TFT to establish future opportunities for UI/UX, streamline UI workflows, and optimize UI content.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and extend core functionalities of shaders, materials and their libraries
  • Provide technical support to developers who interface with UI content or workflows
  • Ensure our UI is optimal by balancing the art needs with tech constraints, and facilitating improvements to its iteration and development
  • Manage a team of technical artists and assist in their professional growth through performance and craft opportunities
  • Lead teams in identifying new opportunities to incorporate technology to increase art workflow efficiency and unlock new creative opportunities
  • Work with recruiting and Art leadership to establish and support the growth, staffing, and resource allocation of the technical art discipline

Required Qualifications:

  • 6+ years of professional experience as a Technical Artist in games or related industries
  • Extensive experience with UI and material implementation in modern game engines, such as Unreal
  • Strong Art skills with experience and an understanding of both 2D and 3D Art workflows for games
  • Highly proficient communication skills and capacity to act as an ambassador between Art and Engineering
  • Superb critical thinking skills, especially in regards to translating artistic requirements into sustainable workflows

Desired Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in tools programming, particularly with Python or C++
  • Experience with Adobe Suite (including Substance), especially from a tools development perspective
  • Experience with Figma
  • Experience with Motion Graphics tools, such as UMG in Unreal
  • Professional experience developing for mobile and multi-platform games
