About the Role

OpenLoop is looking for a Sr. Manager, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting to join our team remotely or at HQ in Des Moines, IA. In this role, you will be responsible for being the internal expert on complex and evolving accounting topics such as revenue recognition (ASC 606), lease accounting (ASC 842), stock-based compensation, business combinations (ASC 805), and others. The position will provide accounting leadership and due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives, ensuring proper treatment and alignment with reporting requirements. As we scale, a dedicated resource ensures our accounting policies, memos, and disclosures evolve appropriately.

This is a fully remote position, however this employee must reside in the United States and have full working rights.

  • Serve as the in-house expert on complex accounting areas, i.e. ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), ASC 842 (Lease Accounting), ASC 718 (Stock-Based Compensation), ASC 805 (Business Combinations), and others.
  • Own, manage and maintain maintain policies, technical memos, and disclosures in alignment with current U.S. GAAP standards.
  • Provide and lead technical accounting process and due diligence support for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Lead the research and continuous maintenance of new accounting standards, as applicable.
  • Collaborate and support and occasionally lead Finance, Legal, and FP&A teams within technical accounting best practices, along with the reporting of non-routine transactions.
  • Oversee external reporting and serve as the key point of contact for financial and other audits.
  • Review and update internal controls as related to technical accounting areas.
  • Ensure effective and collaborative communication complex accounting concepts in a clear, concise manner to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 
  • 8-10 years of progressive experience in technical accounting, including Big 4 public accounting and public company environments.
  • CPA required.
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. GAAP, including recent experience with ASC 606, ASC 842, ASC 718, and ASC 805.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with experience writing technical memos and working with external auditors.
  • Excellent analytical skills, detail-oriented, and a proactive problem-solver.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly experience with supporting M&A transactions
  • Advanced working experience with SEC reporting requirements 
  • Experience in a SaaS, healthcare, startup or technology company is a plus
