Contract Tech Writer

Position Summary: We are seeking a skilled Tech Writer to produce high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of our products. You will work collaboratively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure our technical content is accurate, comprehensive, and easy to understand. This role requires a strong background in SaaS, APIs, and user workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Document a wide range of features across the Kognitos platform, including automation language, SDKs, APIs, and UI functionalities. 

  • Create and maintain technical guides, API documentation, SDK documentation, reference materials, release notes, and online help resources.

  • Collaborate with developers, product managers, and other team members to gather information and understand documentation requirements.

  • Translate complex technical concepts and user workflows into clear, concise, and user-friendly content.

  • Leverage customer support tools to collect insights for refining documentation.

  • Continuously improve documentation based on product changes and feedback.

  • Identify gaps in existing documentation and create new content to address them.

  • Assist in defining the documentation strategy, focusing on structuring, formatting, and organization for clarity, consistency, and scalability.

  • Manage multiple documentation projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in technical writing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, preferably in the SaaS or technology industry.

  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

  • Ability to understand and explain complex technical concepts, APIs, and user workflows in a clear and concise manner.

  • Experience with docs-as-code workflows, including version control (Git) and collaboration through pull requests.

  • Experience with content management systems (CMS) for creating, organizing, and publishing product documentation.

  • Familiarity with cloud-based documentation platforms (e.g., Notion, Google Docs) for drafting and editing documentation in a collaborative environment.

  • Ability to understand and read code (Python experience is a plus).

  • Proficiency in Markdown language for writing and formatting documentation.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.

  • Experience creating video tutorials or other multimedia content.

  • Experience with generative AI technology.

  • Familiarity with OpenAPI Specs for API documentation.

  • Experience in structuring documentation for AI-powered search and answer retrieval. 

  • Experience with GitBook for documentation management is a plus.

  • Experience with project management and issue tracking tools like Jira or Linear.

  • Experience with automating documentation processes and implementing workflows for streamlined content updates.
