The Tax Manager is responsible for providing support to the income tax accounting, income tax compliance, and indirect tax compliance functions of the organization. This position is an individual contributor role, without direct management of team members. The Tax Manager reports to the Tax Director and will work with the tax team, other accounting personnel, and worldwide offices to support accurate annual income tax filings and the quarterly and year-end income tax provisions.

This is a hybrid-role, which will require travel to our office in Bohemia, NY, once or twice per week.

As a Tax Manager you'll make an impact on

Income Tax Accounting:

  • Preparation of the quarterly and year-end U.S. income tax provision, including estimated book-to-tax differences and supporting calculations and entry of amounts into provision software at year-end.
  • Preparation of quarterly worldwide consolidated FIN 18 tax provision calculation file.
  • Preparation and analytic analysis of worldwide consolidated quarterly and year-end income tax provision.
  • Preparation of quarterly and year-end consolidating uncertain tax position (FIN 48) workpapers including the gathering of information supporting worldwide reserve balances.
  • Oversee the year-end consolidated tax provision software process and drafting of financial statement tax disclosures.

Corporate Income Tax Compliance:

  • Actively participate in the preparation of the US consolidated federal, state & international (GILTI, E&P, etc.) compliance process with external tax preparers
  • Gather supporting information and prepare workpapers calculating book-to-tax differences, elimination entries, reconciliation to audited financial statements, etc.
  • Prepare tax return statements and attachments.
  • Prepare quarterly US federal & state estimated cash tax calculations.

Indirect Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual sales and use tax accounting reconciliations and coordinate sales and use tax filings and annual reports with external tax preparers.
  • Proactively monitor, analyze, and interpret state & local legislative changes to ensure sales and use tax compliance.

Your toolbox

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
  • 6+ years of experience in a corporate tax department and \ or public accounting firm focused on federal and state corporate tax.
  • Experience with OneSource (or other) income tax provision software.
  • Strong technology skills including MS Excel, Word & Outlook. Knowledge of Oracle.

Would be considered an advantage

  • CPA or Masters degree.
  • International tax compliance experience.
  • Experience with OneSource (or other) income tax provision software.

If hired for this position, the base salary range would be between $135k-$150k. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on various factors including but not limited to work location, skills, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Cognyte’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commission and short and long-term incentives. In addition, Cognyte provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, life, and disability insurance, a 401K employer matching program, paid holidays, and PTO.
