Tax Lead (Contract)

We are seeking a Tax Lead (Contract) to join our team on a revenue-share basis, with the potential to grow into a full-time leadership role. This role will lead Finvisor’s tax function, supporting U.S. clients with international subsidiaries and other cross-border complexities. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, client-focused, and ready to scale a modern tax practice within a dynamic, growth-oriented firm.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-Corps, and C-Corps
  • Manage tax compliance for clients with U.S. entities and international subsidiaries, including foreign reporting requirements (e.g., Forms 5471, 1118, 2555, 8938)
  • Calculate, coordinate, and advise on quarterly estimated tax payments and installment schedules for individuals and businesses
  • Provide tax planning and advisory services for startup founders and venture-backed companies, including multi-state tax issues, R&D credits, and equity compensation
  • Research complex federal and international tax issues and provide clear, actionable guidance to clients and internal teams
  • Collaborate with Finvisor’s Accounting, Payroll, and CFO teams to ensure accuracy and alignment across services
  • Act as the primary point of contact for client tax inquiries and IRS/state correspondence, including responding to notices and assisting with payment plans
  • Develop scalable processes, tools, and documentation to strengthen and expand Finvisor’s tax service offering
  • Stay current on federal and international tax law changes impacting startups and high-growth companies
Qualifications
  • 7–10+ years of U.S. tax preparation and planning experience, including work with clients that have international subsidiaries
  • Proven knowledge of international reporting and compliance (e.g., GILTI, Subpart F, Forms 5471/1118/2555/8938)
  • CPA or EA Required
  • Strong track record advising on multi-state compliance, equity comp, and startup-specific tax issues
  • Proficiency in tax software (e.g., UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar software)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to simplify complex issues for founders and executives
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter mindset with an interest in building and scaling a tax practice
  • Strong organizational skills; able to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
