* Job Summary
* The Tax Accountant is responsible for the compliance and audit function of the Sales Tax Department. This individual will work with other team members and multiple accounting and invoicing programs to gather, analyze, and present information needed for tax compliance and audit.
* What you'll do
* Lead assigned sales and use tax audits conducted by state and local tax authorities and serve as the primary point of contact for auditors.
* Research tax issues as required and make recommendations to management
* Support sales tax audit process by running reports in multiple accounting and invoicing programs including: IBM AS400, PeopleSoft, Workday, and Vertex to gather data.
* Request information and review responses from other CDW departments, vendors, and customers and discuss responses with management
* Work with taxing authorities to respond to notices and rectify any issues in a timely manner
* Renew and apply for business licenses and sales tax licenses
* Prepare and file sales and use tax returns for assigned companies.
* Prepare general ledger reconciliations for assigned accruals and submit reconciliations to management for review.
* Support multiple department projects, as needed.
* What we expect of you
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related financial field with 3+ years of experience in sales and use tax, with focus on audit management
* Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills.
* Strong problem solving and organization skills with critical attention to detail.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with solid Excel skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under deadlines
* Strong knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax laws and regulations
* CCH or TTR tax research experience
