About us:

We are building an engineering AGI. We founded P-1 AI with the conviction that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will be on the built world—helping mankind conquer nature and bend it to our will. Our first product is Archie, an AI engineer capable of quantitative and spatial reasoning over physical product domains that performs at the level of an entry-level design engineer. We aim to put an Archie on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.

Our founding team includes the top minds in model-based engineering, deep learning, and industries that are our customers. This year we closed a $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures that includes a number of other AI and industrial luminaries. We invite you to join our team of the world’s best engineers and AI researchers, building AI’s most impactful use case.

About the role:

The Talent Lead will be responsible for leading our recruiting strategy from both an operational and sourcing perspective. This is a very hands-on role, so proven experience in the ability to source the top 1% of technical talent across North America is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Source exceptional talent across software engineering, AI research, and ML, especially from unconventional channels: think scraping Github repo’s, Google Scholar, etc.

  • Lead the recruiting process end-to-end, helping hiring managers with crafting job descriptions, orchestrating recruiting campaigns, sourcing candidates, screening, orchestrating the interview process (at speed!), extending offers, and closing candidates.

  • Work closely with the senior leadership team to deeply understand both technical and cultural needs and preferences for each role.

  • Constant process optimization, staying up to date with compensation trends, new recruiting tools and channels, evolving organizational needs and structure of a rapidly-growing early-stage company, and optimizing process efficiency and the candidate experience.

About you:

  • Proven ability to engage passive talent in deeply technical markets.

  • Previous experience at a startup (Seed to Series B) desired.

  • High agency and strong organizational skills—ability to manage multiple searches and roles at once.

  • Have built early stage operational processes that can scale with the company.

  • Expert at screening calls, able to uncover both professional and personal motivations for candidates, and ability to use these for an effective closing.

  • Strong seller—be able to sell on both the caliber of the team and importance of the mission.

  • Bring a network of engineering and AI talent from frontier labs and exciting startups.

Interview Process:

  • Initial screen with Head of Talent (30mins)

  • Head of Ops interview (45mins)

  • Live sourcing interview (45mins)

  • Final interview with our CEO (30mins)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
