As the operator of a federally funded research and development center (FFRDC), we are broadly engaged across all aspects of space- delivering innovative solutions that span satellite, launch, ground, and cyber systems for defense, civil and commercial customers. When you join our team, you'll be part of a special collection of problem solvers, thought leaders, and innovators. Join us and take your place in space.
The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including United States Space Force, United States Space Command, Air Force Material Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.
This position is for a systems test lead who will provide technical leadership to the planning and execution of the integrated system test campaign for the Resilient Missile Warning and Tracking (MWT) program at Space Systems Command (SSC). The role involves working closely with the acquisition program office (SSC/SNR), ground and space contractors, and external testing organizations to develop and execute a robust system level test strategy, aligned to program cost, schedule and risk objectives. The role includes providing technical leadership to integrated test teams, conducting risk and opportunity trades, and assessing contractor test artifacts for adequacy and integration into the broader system test flow. The role will act as a key liaison to external test organizations responsible for conducting DT&E and OT&E for the Resilient MWT program.
Work Model
This position is on-site in El Segundo, CA. Telecommuting is possible 1-2 days per week depending on the needs of the program and customer.
What You'll Be Doing

  • Act as system test spokesperson on Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) integrated product teams (IPTs); work shoulder-to-shoulder with government, SETA, SE&I and other FFRDC leads to ensure system test is well-integrated with the broader program systems engineering approach
  • Lead the Aerospace test team in proactively identifying test related risk and opportunity trades, executing technical assessments of contractor test artifacts and presenting findings to government decision makers
  • Develop, manage and mentor an Aerospace test engineering team by defining tasking, reviewing work products for technical adequacy, and mentoring junior staff in the test discipline
  • Work closely with Aerospace management to define test support priorities; provide oversight and management of program staffing and budgets for the Aerospace system test line of effort (LOE)

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
