Turion Space is building spacecraft for national security and in-space operations. From debris removal to space domain awareness to building a more secure space economy, we are a team focused on getting real hardware to orbit fast and scaling capability.
We are looking for a Systems Integration & Test Engineer who will be responsible for owning the testing of the spacecraft and its subsystems in preparation for launch. In addition, they will interface with various teams to support test, verification, and validation of requirements. They will represent the systems team in the assembly and integration phase as well working with our Manufacturing & AIT teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Works as a key part of the overall Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) group
Takes ownership over ground testing of flight hardware, including test setup, execution, and review
Develops, performs, and supports testing activities in various environments such as cleanrooms, vibrational test facilities, thermal vacuum test facilities
Travel’s offsite to support test campaigns
Working with vendors and environmental test laboratories to support test campaigns
Works with program managers and design engineers to ensure requirements traceability and compliance
Participates in milestone reviews (design, manufacturing, test) and provide technical input for test capabilities, test readiness, and configuration management.
Additional Responsibilities may include:
Translate system requirements into system architectures that integrate space, ground and end user systems to meet overall mission needs while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
Develops interface control documents and system models that define interfaces between space, ground and end user segments
Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, and trade studies
Works with space vehicle and ground segment contractors to ensure designs meet requirements and interfaces across segments and systems will function properly.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of experience integration & testing complex multi-element systems
Experience in spacecraft systems engineering
Experience with systems engineering involving the integration of complex multi-element systems.
Ability and willingness to sometimes work weekend and evenings as needed to achieve launch target goals
Experience writing and executing test procedures
Experience creating as-run test reports
Experience with environmental testing such as vibration and thermal vacuum
Experience with functional and performance testing of space systems
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or TS/SCI clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience leading a test campaign
Previous experience with another space startup
Experience developing space systems, preferably including space-to-ground integration.
Experience developing space program interfaces and detailed Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
Systems Integration & Test Engineer Compensation: $150,000-190,000
