Job Summary

CSG is organized by core customer-facing lines of business to manage and grow programs within FAA, NASA, NOAA, and the NNSA, while extending our capabilities to other civilian federal government agencies fully integrated within Aerospace rules, regulations, processes, values, and behaviors.
Aerospace's Civil Systems Group (CSG) is seeking qualified individuals for the position of Systems Engineering - Acquisition Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Systems Engineering - Acquisition) in support of Homeland Protection Programs in the Federal Programs Division. The Division is responsible for providing full lifecycle independent assessment, systems engineering & integration (SE&I), policy and mission/safety assurance to Federal non-DOD agencies (including FAA, DOC, DHS and its operational components, NSF, etc) across the space and related complex systems enterprise.
Work Model
This position will be a part-time hybrid work model and offer partially remote with some onsite work required in Washington DC as the business needs allow.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead and/or support projects with our USCG and DoD customers
  • As lead, directly interface with USCG customer, Aerospace technical matrix support and Aerospace management staff
  • Engage with the customer to define executable task statements, schedules, PTS levels, deliverables, and timelines according to budget; establish need-by dates for Govt Furnished Information (GFI)
  • Lead and collaborate with the execution team to support program activities according to budget, schedule, resources, and technical constraints.
  • Deliver objective impactful results to customers that seek decision quality data to advance enduring solutions for critical service-level missions
  • Operate strategically to seek, identify and provide technical insights in pursuit of appropriate adjacent tasking to grow value support within the agency and elsewhere in the homeland security enterprise
  • Perform project management activities, managing technical deliverables, cost (hours), and resources
  • Assure delivery of quality products to customer and Aerospace management
  • Manage engineering matrix support activities, including guiding project scope, approach and deliverables
  • Lead a diverse group of technical expertise and assure the right technical expertise is applied to task(s)
  • Maintain working relationship with counterparts/management across CSG and ETG

What You Need to be Successful: Senior Project Engineer - Systems Engineer - Acquisition
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • 10 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible professional operational combat and intelligence experience in the maritime domain
  • Solid familiarity with the Navy's MDA (Maritime Domain Awareness) Strategy and supporting programs, including use and capability of space assets to support MDA
  • Demonstrated expertise with Control, Communications and Computer, and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems and their functionality, and optimizing capabilities to meet various mission requirements
  • Significant expertise leading analyses, studies, assessments, lifecycle cost estimates and cost benefit analysis that result in service-level recommendations leading to strategic investments and acquisitions
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills including effectively explaining concepts to executive corporate leadership, technical staff, and government leaders
  • Extensive knowledge of the DoD planning, program, budgeting, and execution (PPBE) process
  • Experience working across technical and programmatic topics with a strategic growth mindset
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary systems engineering setting, and manage the technical team's tasking and workflows to meet contractual obligations
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site/domestically/internationally approx. 10%
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

How You Can Stand Out
It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Master's degree in electrical engineering with an emphasis in Communications
  • 12 or more years of experience in increasingly responsible professional operational combat and intelligence experience in the maritime domain
  • Possess SME-level understanding of USN MDA capabilities
  • Possess experience conducting C4ISR-related modeling and simulation analyses, and presented MDA-related results to senior USN, USCG, IC, and Industry leaders
  • PMP certified
