JOB SUMMARY

Leads implementation of approved application and data center architecture, networking and security solutions.

WHAT OUR SYSTEMS ENGINEER'S ENJOY MOST
- Actively and consistently supporting all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
- Designing, deploying, managing, and maintaining application and platform ecosystems with a core focus on database systems to ensure network security, high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability for mission-critical business systems.
- Leading the design, optimization, and maintenance of relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, DynamoDB), implementing robust backup strategies, replication techniques, and disaster recovery plans.
- Performing advanced query optimization and database tuning to enhance system performance and reduce latency.
- Applying strong networking fundamentals (Layer 2 and Layer 3) to configure and troubleshoot VLANs, routing protocols, IP addressing, and firewall rules.
- Administering and maintaining Linux and Unix systems including patch management, system upgrades, and performance monitoring ensuring system stability and security.
- Representing the Engineering Department working closely with Architects and Engineers in designing, modeling, and implementing new technologies.
- Assisting and leading efforts for design, redesign, and operational efficiencies as business objective and strategies evolve.
- Documenting project requirements including scope, costs, schedule, testing and terms of delivery to ensure project is completed with highest level of quality on time and within budget.
- Mentoring and training other Engineering personnel in key elements of networking systems and provide technical presentations to instruct co-workers and other production services support individuals.
- Researching and identifying technology opportunities and application to the business.
- Testing and validating all new hardware and software for proper configuration and performance.
- Adhering to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable. Knowing, understanding and following company policy.
- Documenting project requirements, including scope, costs, schedule, testing, and delivery terms, to ensure on-time and within-budget completion.

Experience:
- Engineering Experience (6+ years)
- Project Management work experience (6+ years)
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience.
Skills:
- Systems knowledge (Linux, Unix)
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and managing databases specifically MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, and DynamoDB.
- Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including Layer 2 (VLANs, MAC addressing, switching) and Layer 3 (IP addressing, routing, subnetting, firewalls) protocols.
- Infrastructure knowledge (OpenShift, AWS)
- In-depth knowledge in areas of specialty for specific applications, and general knowledge of supporting or integrating applications creating platform ecosystems.
- Basic Knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
- Expert knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
- Expert knowledge of software designing software, such as Visio.
- General knowledge of OSI stack and application architectures.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly

Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of company products and services.
- Experience with 5G, WiFi, and provisioning infrastructure (OSS, BSS).
- Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud-based systems.
- Strong knowledge of database security best practices including encryption, user access control, and audit logging.
- Preferred CCNA certification or equivalent networking expertise.
- System administration certifications (Linux, Kubernetes, Docker, Splunk).
- Infrastructure knowledge (AWS, RedHat OpenShift).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM, Hyper-V).
- Intermediate-level experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC).
- Automation and configuration management experience with Python and Ansible for database and infrastructure management.
