Job Duties and Responsibilities
The Commercial Insertion (CI) Engineering team is responsible for operating and maintaining the Commercial Insertion systems along with:
  • Media Sales and DISH Business Commercial Insertion campaigns
  • Set Top Box (STB) Commercial Insertion development efforts; and
  • Coordinating efforts between Commercial Insertion Engineering teams
  • Work with other departments to maintain services

Working under technical and management supervision from managers and system architects, the Engineer I is to understand business goals and define, document, analyze, perform, and interpret needs for CI, Advertising, and related systems.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Works collaboratively with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to execute Content Change Requests (CCR's) that update the Commercial Insertion (CI) System
  • Create CCRs to perform maintenance and updates to the CI system
  • Resolves software and hardware issues with minimal technical support and generate documentation for CI Engineering Operations
  • Proactively works with Operations, Support, and Test personnel to develop solutions to issues discovered and implement new processes/procedures that improve customer experience and business cash flow
  • Administers day to day maintenance / monitoring for the Commercial Insertion system
  • Coordinates support needed from other groups
  • Maintain and update documentation for the CI team

This role is on-site in Cheyenne, WY
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience is strongly preferred.
  • 2-3 years of related experience demonstrating proficiency in the core competencies below:

Skills and Qualifications:
  • Functional understanding and skill with standard computing environments, specifically RHEL Linux, Windows Server, NAS/SAN Storage, VMware, networking and system administration, Microsoft Office Applications, and Google Suite.
  • Basic knowledge in writing, troubleshooting, and running basic scripts using one or more of common scripting tools/languages including SQL/Perl/Python/Bash.
  • Basic familiarity with Video Compression, MPEG and Satellite Broadcasting
  • Basic familiarity with Commercial Insertion technologies and Business Operations
  • Must be able to perform 24X7 shift work including overnight shifts as dictated by the needs of the business
  • Understands and properly interprets business features.
  • Competencies include excellent written and verbal communication including precise issue reporting, test results reporting, and creating and delivering presentations
  • Experienced in data and problem analysis, creative problem solving and detailed design thinking

Working Environment:
  • Lifting - Ability to move or lift 50 lbs; frequently moves various equipment into and out of their assigned racks
  • Willingness to view and support television signals that include adult content without objections
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods and reach to heights of up to 7 feet
  • Must be able to maneuver through tight and low ceiling spaces Occasionally needs to crawl through computer floor and above ceiling cable grid areas
  • Occasional travel between Denver, Cheyenne, and Gilbert locations as needed

Scheduled Weekly Hours:
  • Monday through Friday, 5 x 8 or 4 x 10
  • On-call 6 week rotation is required; most on-call will be remote but on-site may be required

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
