Overview

As an System Operations Engineer at GovWorx, you will be responsible for working with our small but effective Operations Team. We are looking for someone that can help us evolve our current DevOps and Production Operations practices so that they exceed industry standards for Software as a Service systems. Given the mission critical role our software plays in our customer’s environments, we need to continuously monitor and improve our ability to deliver, monitor, and respond to alerts.

Note: This role is open exclusively to U.S. citizens due to the sensitive nature of the data and regulatory compliance requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operations Process:

    • Produce clear diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans for our operational systems / processes.

    • Follow company architectural guidelines and industry best practices when developing operations frameworks / systems.

  • Automation:

    • Ability to automation that can build and deliver software artifacts.

    • Ability to write Infrastructure as Code to support our environment.

    • Ability to develop monitors, alerts, and on-call solutions to ensure we are responsive to customer issues.

  • Collaboration and Support:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including support and customer success.

    • Providing consistent and meaningful progress and performance updates to senior management and the Executive Leadership Team.

Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as an individual contributor working in DevOps/Cloud Operations, preferably within SaaS or technology-driven organizations.

  • Experience writing Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Cloud Formation Templates, CDK, etc.

  • Experience with Relational Databases such as MySQL, Postgres, etc.

  • Alternative datastores such as OpenSearch, Redshift, etc. are a major plus.

  • Strong understanding of web development frameworks and architectures.

  • Strong understanding of containerization; Kubernetes a plus.

  • Strong understanding of Amazon Web Services; Amazon GovCloud a plus.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

  • Must pass FBI fingerprint and background check in multiple states

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with CJIS compliance is highly preferred.

  • Background in public safety, emergency communications, or related fields.

  • Familiarity with AI-driven platforms and their security considerations.
