Depending on your experience, you’ll contribute to or lead administration work across Windows systems, identity, virtualization, and Azure—including the foundations that support AI workloads.
This role is open at Levels I through IV, with scope and technical leadership aligned to the level of hire.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

  • Design, build, and operate cloud, data center, and enterprise Windows systems, progressing from implementation under senior guidance at Level I to architecture and delivery across multiple projects at Level IV.
  • Administer supported server, identity, endpoint, productivity, cloud, virtualization, and virtual desktop environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Office 365, Exchange, Azure, VMware vSphere, KVM, VMware Horizon, and Citrix.
  • Install, upgrade, patch, test, monitor, and troubleshoot systems; provide technical support, participate in on-call coverage, and document findings and actions when escalating issues.
  • Identify risks before they affect customers, investigate incidents, and drive lasting fixes—with responsibility for complex escalations and systemic improvements increasing at senior levels.
  • Build and secure the Windows, identity, and Azure foundations for AI workloads in partnership with AI and data teams, applying appropriate access, logging, and data-handling controls.
  • Use, develop, and ultimately set build, deployment, and automation standards; apply PowerShell, DSC, and Ansible, with Python used in senior-level engineering work.
  • Use AI-assisted tools for appropriate engineering, troubleshooting, and documentation tasks, verify their output before use, and establish team review practices at Level IV.
  • Design for high availability, backup, and disaster recovery, and apply established security and quality practices—defining cross-team controls and standards at Level IV.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, product development, implementation, support, vendors, and other teams to deliver effective service and make sound technical decisions.
  • Grow technical ownership by sharing knowledge and improving a supported technology at Level II, leading designs and mentoring engineers at Level III, and setting technical direction and developing engineers across the team at Level IV.

This role offers room to deepen your technical expertise and broaden your ownership as you advance through the engineering levels. Depending on your starting level and development, it can provide a foundation for senior or principal engineering, architecture, or technical leadership.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
