Chubb is one of the world leaders in the property and casualty insurance space, distinguished by extensive product and service offerings, broad distribution capabilities, exceptional financial strength, underwriting excellence, superior claims handling, and local operations globally.

Chubb is expanding its Global Resilience & Risk Consulting footprint to serve complex industrial and commercial markets. As the SVP, Risk Consulting Business Development Leader, you will build and own the overarching commercial strategy across multiple disciplines—empowering your team to accelerate program adoption, build sustained pipelines, and convert high-value prospects into long-term risk management partners. This role carries commercial accountability and authority to shape how the consulting practice grows, activate Chubb's enterprise sales and distribution infrastructure, and redefine what risk consulting looks like.

What You Will Do

You will lead across four interconnected areas of accountability:

Sales Leadership & Pipeline Generation

  • Oversee and mentor a team of sales leaders dedicated to multiple industry practices, specifically Strategic Resilience and Risk, Asset Reliability, and Technical Advisory.
  • With a relationship-based sales approach centered on long-term client accounts, personally originate, structure, and close large-scale consulting engagements.
  • Architect and execute a disciplined growth strategy to produce a $200 million qualified pipeline over the next four years.
  • Drive commercial excellence to achieve an initial 25% average conversion rate, actively implementing coaching, deal-structuring improvements, and sales enablement to improve win rates to 40% over time.
  • Build commercial intelligence between the sales team, practice leaders, underwriting, and product development — creating a practice that learns faster and competes harder over time.

Market Strategy & Partner Origination

  • Develop and refine Chubb's consulting market narrative and competitive positioning — ensure Chubb's consulting practice remains differentiated, commercially relevant, and ahead of the market.
  • Build internal and external champions, serving as the account lead for tier-one global accounts, complex multi-practice pitches, and key industry partnerships.
  • Represent Chubb's consulting capabilities at conferences, executive summits, and industry events.

Deal Structuring & Commercial Innovation

  • Collaborate with technical practice leaders and underwriting to structure commercially sound, multi-disciplinary engagements that solve critical asset reliability and strategic resilience challenges for manufacturers.
  • Work with your team to develop new deal archetypes and scalable, repeatable go-to-market models.
  • Foster a whole-enterprise approach to consulting with understanding of other services and insurance that Chubb delivers to top client accounts, embed client behavior change and risk mitigation into the core deal construct.

Matrixed Stakeholder Leadership

  • Serve as the commercial connector between the technical advisory teams, Chubb's existing distribution infrastructure, and underwriting leadership.
  • Navigate a complex, matrixed environment with clarity of purpose and a bias toward action, aligning cross-functional priorities to mobilize resources for high-value deal pursuits.
  • Partner deliberately with Chubb's Commercial Lines field sales leadership, broker distribution network, and underwriting partners to ensure the consulting practice is fully embedded in Chubb's enterprise account management process — operating as an integrated growth engine, not a standalone silo.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years of experience in enterprise sales, complex deal origination, or distribution leadership within consulting or engineering.
  • Demonstrated executive-level management experience, successfully leading and scaling teams of senior sales professionals (VP/SVP level) across distinct practice areas.
  • Proven track record of high-stakes pipeline orchestration—specifically building, managing, and closing within a nine-figure pipeline environment.
  • Deep commercial network and familiarity with the Advanced Manufacturing or Energy sector, including unique supply chain, asset reliability, and risk-transfer challenges.
  • High analytical rigor with a disciplined approach to CRM (Salesforce) and conversion metrics; proven ability to optimize sales processes to elevate win rates.
  • Excellent communication and executive presence, with the ability to lead a room of plant managers, risk managers, or C-suite executives with equal confidence.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal background in engineering, technical advisory, enterprise risk management, or environmental science.
  • Experience originating multi-party commercial partnerships or incentive-based consulting agreements.
  • Prior experience building a new go-to-market capability or scaling a consulting practice within a larger, established financial or industrial organization.

The pay range for the role is $225,000 to $285,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found on our careers website. The disclosed pay range estimate may be adjusted for the applicable geographic differential for the location in which the position is filled.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
