Position Summary:

The SVP Market Transformation leads the Market Transformation (MT) department, one of LACI’s three organizational pillars, which helps to create an inclusive green economy in the greater Los Angeles region and beyond through  cross-sectoral partnerships, research,  public policies, and innovative pilot projects. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Pillar Leadership: As head of MT, identify and fill departmental staffing needs, and lead budget development, financial performance, and internal process improvements. Manage the MT team with priorities on performance, productivity, teamwork, turnover, net promoter scores, and staff growth and development. As a member of the Leadership Team, provide organization-wide insights and input to the CEO and Executive team. Ensure strong collaboration across the organization and support org-wide initiatives and improvement.
  • Program Development, Integration and Delivery: Guide the strategic direction, specific implementation actions, and outcome tracking for all of MT’s program. Ensure LACI develops and maintains strong relationships with all of the public and private sector partners involved in each program, and shape the ways in which LACI’s partnerships evolve and expand. Integrate MT’s programs seamlessly with current LACI incubation, workforce development, diversity & inclusion, and prototyping lab initiatives. Set up program metrics and grant progress tracking and reporting. Produce conferences and related events to share and publicize MT program’s progress and successes.
  • Fundraising and Grant OversightWorking closely with the Development Team, identify opportunities for and secure funding to support LACI’s Market Transformation work from a variety of sources, including  private foundations, government agencies, and corporate partners. Manage the relationships with grant stakeholders at each funding entity. Ensure all grant objectives are met, and deliverables, reports and invoices are turned in on time and with top quality. Oversee all grant subcontractors and ensure subcontractors produce timely deliverables, progress reports and invoices.
  • Policy OversightWork with LACI’s CEO, COO and Government Relations team to shape and advance LACI’s policy initiatives at the federal, state, and local levels

Requirements:

Basically, we want to know you can get the job done. This means you have:

  • Deep experience with public policies and/or business models (including financing and pilots)  to accelerate market transformation in zero emissions transportation, clean energy, and sustainable cities
  • 10+ years relevant work experience, Masters degree in public policy, business or environmental studies preferred
  • Budgeting experience as well as business development and/or fundraising experience is required
  • Excellent writer and presenter, comfortable speaking with a wide range of audiences
  • Experience building and growing clean energy and/or zero emissions transportation businesses is preferred. Otherwise, experience as a connected clean energy and transportation stakeholder is required
  • Experience managing and cultivating  direct reports and reporting to/working with C-level executives

Work Requirements

  • This role operates in a hybrid capacity and must work onsite from Downtown LA office at least 3 days/week.
  • Some travel required across Los Angeles and outside of Los Angeles as the lead of this strategic pillar

Position Details:

This is a full-time position, starting immediately. LACI operates out of the La Kretz Innovation Campus, in the bustling Downtown LA Arts District. Since we are rapidly growing, you will be getting in on the ground floor at LACI, with the opportunity to evolve with us and shape your future here. Some travel may be required.

Salary Range: SVP Range $180-200k commensurate with experience, education, skills, etc and total compensation package including health benefits, 401k match, professional development, commuter benefits and more.
