As a Sustainability Consultant at Workiva, you'll play a pivotal role in helping clients achieve their sustainability goals. You'll leverage your expertise in sustainability best practices and Workiva's platform to deliver exceptional service. We are looking for an experienced professional who can support clients ranging in size from Fortune 500s to small independent organizations through the implementation of our software and delivery of high-quality ESG consulting services. 

What You’ll do

  • Guide clients on implementing effective GHG emission calculation programs, including scope 1, 2 & 3

  • Lead climate risk assessments for clients by evaluating both physical and transition risks, ensuring decision-useful analysis that aligns with key disclosure frameworks (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, CSRD, and California’s SB 261)

  • Conduct climate scenario analysis to evaluate hazard, exposure, and vulnerability, and translate these insights into actionable strategies within enterprise risk management (ERM) and business continuity planning.

  • Assist clients with building emission reduction programs aligned with leading frameworks (CDP, GRI, SASB, TCFD)

  • Become a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance and navigating clients through their sustainability journey

  • Champion client success by implementing Workiva's solutions and ensuring projects meet scope, deadlines, and client objectives.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment, sharing knowledge through training materials and potentially delivering training sessions

  • Uphold Workiva's high standards by providing exceptional service and promptly addressing client needs

What You’ll Need

Minimum Qualifications

  • Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field

  • 4 years of experience in related fields with a strong focus on climate risk assessments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of sustainability practices, including carbon emissions accounting (Greenhouse Gas Protocol)

  • Experience with consulting and a proven track record of delivering results for external clients

  • Deep expertise in physical climate risk assessment, including modeling of natural hazards (acute and chronic), and performing exposure and vulnerability analyses at the assets, business unit, and/or enterprise level

  • Knowledge of transition risk assessment, including the use of climate transition scenarios (e.g., NGFS, IEA, IPCC SSPs & RCPs), evaluating decarbonization pathways, and assessing financial implications of evolving climate policy, market shifts, and technology disruptions.

  • Experience preparing mandatory and voluntary reports (e.g., TCFD, ISSB, CSRD, etc.) for medium and large enterprise clients across various industries

  • Proven project management skills with the ability to stay on track and meet deadlines

  • Expertise in data analysis and creating compelling data visualizations

  • Experience developing and verifying corporate GHG inventories.

  • Knowledge of science-based target setting (SBTi)

  • Experience in configuring software solutions.

  • Proficiency in financial analysis (ROI, IRR)

  • Leadership potential and experience in mentoring junior staff

  • Fluency in data tools beyond Excel (R, Tableau, Power BI)

  • Expertise in environmental impact accounting beyond emissions (e.g., product life cycle analysis, water footprinting)

Travel Requirements and Working Conditions

  • 25% Travel for customer and internal meetings

  • Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
