Role
As a Buyer at AnySignal, you will be responsible for driving the success of our supply chain operations by owning day-to-day purchasing, inventory management, and vendor coordination. This is a highly hands-on role: you will manage purchasing cycles directly, build and maintain data models in Excel/Sheets, and collaborate closely with engineers and contract manufacturers to ensure materials are ready for every build.
You will play a critical role in enabling new product introduction (NPI) hardware builds, ensuring parts and assemblies arrive on time, and identifying cost efficiencies across the supply chain. Your work will directly influence the pace and efficiency of our hardware development and production.
Responsibilities
- Source and purchase a wide range of electronic and mechanical components in alignment with BOM requirements.
- Own the NPI purchasing process, ensuring boards and components are procured and delivered for engineering test builds.
- Place, track, and manage purchase orders with contract manufacturers and suppliers; mitigate risks and recover schedule slips.
- Maintain inventory accuracy in systems (NetSuite, ION, etc.), including safety stock levels, consumption tracking, and vendor coordination.
- Perform receiving, inspection, and kitting of parts when required for critical builds.
- Collect, create, and analyze supply chain data—including purchase price variances (PPVs)—to identify savings and drive efficiency.
- Build and maintain spreadsheet models for BOMs, budgets, inventory tracking, and forecasting.Collaborate with engineering on DFM, BOM updates, and ECO integration to ensure seamless transitions from design to production.
- Partner with production, logistics, and finance teams to align material readiness with build schedules.
Required Skills
- 3+ years of purchasing and supply chain experience in hardware-focused industries (space communications, aerospace, PCBAs, robotics, or similar).
- Proven ability to independently own and execute purchasing processes end-to-end
- History of purchasing EEE components
- Advanced Excel/Sheets skills (pivot tables, index-match, conditional formatting; VBA/scripts a plus).
- Strong data analysis capabilities and experience working with ERP/MRP systems (NetSuite, SAP, ION, or equivalent).
- Ability to interpret and manage multi-level BOMs and technical drawings.
- Professional communication skills with both suppliers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
Desired Skills
- Experience in a startup or New Space environment where flexibility and speed are essential.
- Familiarity with PCB assembly processes and electrical components.
- Familiarity with IPC standards.
- Exposure to qualifying parts to MIL-STD-883 / 810 or NASA 8739 standards.
- Knowledge of environmental test flows (HTOL, vibration, thermal-vac).
