YOUR MISSION

As a Supplier Development Engineering Manager at True Anomaly, you will play a critical leadership role in building and sustaining a world-class supplier base capable of delivering flight-quality hardware to orbit. Reporting to the Sr Director of Supply Chain, you will lead the identification, qualification, and continuous improvement of suppliers across key technical domains, ensuring they meet True Anomaly's rigorous standards for quality, cost, and schedule. This role demands a technically minded leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering and supply chain — someone who can bridge the gap between our internal engineering teams and our supplier network, and who is passionate about building scalable, resilient processes from the ground up.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leading the supplier development lifecycle — focusing on qualification, performance management, and continuous improvement — across key commodity areas including Propulsion, Structures, Power Systems, and Avionics
  • Establishing and driving supplier qualification processes, including technical audits, capability assessments, and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIR) to ensure suppliers meet program requirements
  • Owning the development and execution of FAIR processes, ensuring suppliers are prepared and compliant across all applicable program requirements
  • Conducting supplier quality audits and working closely with suppliers and internal design teams to identify and resolve non-conformances, with a clear goal of achieving zero defects
  • Driving resolution of supplier-related technical and quality escapes, including root cause investigations and corrective action (RCCA) processes
  • Partnering with suppliers on cost reduction and quality improvement projects, leveraging data-driven approaches to drive measurable outcomes
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Program Management to ensure supplier readiness aligns with program milestones and flight schedules
  • Developing and continuously improving supplier development processes, tools, and documentation in support of scaling the business
  • Participating in special projects and extending past written role responsibilities as needed to support the team and organization

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in supplier development, manufacturing engineering, or supply chain engineering
  • Aerospace and/or Defense industry experience
  • Strong technical fluency in one or more of the following domains: Propulsion, Structures, Power Systems, or Avionics
  • Experience leading supplier audits, qualification programs, and corrective action processes
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and technical specifications
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Familiarity with AS9100, ITAR, and other aerospace quality and regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, and data-driven supplier performance tools
  • Willingness to travel to supplier sites as needed (estimated 30–50%)

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Space-technology supply chain or hardware development experience
  • Experience scaling supplier development functions in a high-growth startup or new space environment
  • Experience with advanced manufacturing processes (e.g., additive manufacturing, precision machining, composite fabrication)

COMPENSATION

  • Base Salary: $110,000 - $160,000
  • Equity + Benefits including Health, Dental, Vision, HRA/HSA options, PTO, and paid holidays, 401K, Parental Leave

Additional Requirements

  • Work Location – We observe an in-person work environment, and expect 4 days per week in office at the Company's Denver, CO headquarters or at our facility in Long Beach, California
  • Security Clearance – Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance required

This position will be open until it is successfully filled. To submit your application, please follow the directions below.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
