Job Description

The Opportunity: Mattel, Inc. is seeking a Supervising Producer to join our Mattel TV Production team, based at our global headquarters in El Segundo, CA. Supervising Producer, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of TV production and as needed managing the production pipeline, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest creative standards. The Supervising Producer also plays the key role in team management, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure the smooth execution of TV projects from concept to delivery.

What Your Impact Will Be: 

    • Recruit and lead production staff, including line producers, associate producers, and coordinators required based on TV projects.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for production teams.
    • Identify and source potential overseas animation studios for outsourcing specific production elements, ensuring alignment with quality, budget, and timeline expectations.
    • Send out project bids to external studios, evaluate proposals, and negotiate terms to secure the best production quality and cost-efficiency.
    • Develop, monitor, and maintain production budgets for multiple projects, ensuring financial efficiency and staying within allocated costs while aligning with the studio’s goals and vision.
    • Establish and oversee production schedules, ensuring deadlines are met and adjusting workflows as necessary.
    • Develop and implement the overall production strategy for multiple projects.
    • Allocate resources across projects based on project needs and timelines, adjusting as needed.
    • Day to day liaison with external studios to resolve any technical issues, ensuring smooth operations.
    • Provide regular progress updates to business, managing expectations and addressing any changes or issues that arise.
    • Identify and resolve production bottlenecks, conflicts, or issues that could impact timelines or quality, and develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and ensure project continuity.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For: 

Partner with Mattel Teams:

    • Support Creative team in upholding the overarching creative vision, ensuring alignment with production objectives at development stage to pass to appointed line producer once greenlit for production and delivery.
    • Work with legal on talent, writers, designers, voice talent, music talent, composers, lyricists, recording studios, mixers, editors and post facilities; negotiate principal deal points in line with legal obligations.
    • Collaborate with legal on master service agreements, production studio agreements.
    • Consult with legal as necessary to navigate guild and union issues.
    • Partner with the post-production team to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality final content, adhering to project milestones.
    • Keep Procurement informed when issuing bids over $250,000, ensuring compliance with internal processes.
    • Oversee the establishment of entities for payment processing and approve payments accordingly.
    • Partner with the Finance team to develop and manage production budgets, ensuring alignment with financial targets.
    • Approve payroll for talent relating to the TV productions.
    • Oversee the management of licenses and IT purchases for the production team, ensuring proper allocation of resources.

The annual base salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $172,000.
**This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience. Mattel offers competitive total pay programs, comprehensive benefits, and resources to help empower a culture where every employee can reach their full potential.
