Job Description:

Airbus Mobile Manufacturing Site is looking for a Summer Intern - Capital Expenditures “CapEx” to join our Operational Excellence Team based in Mobile, AL.

The objective of this mission is to support the U.S. CapEx Director in the strategic management and governance of the capital investment portfolio for Airbus U.S. Operations, ensuring the development of CapEx governance and project performance matrices in alignment with company objectives.

Your Working Environment:

In Mobile, AL on ‘Airbus Way’ you will find the Airbus U.S. Manufacturing Facility for commercial aircraft. Opened at the Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley in 2015, the facility produces A320 Family aircraft and added a second product line for the A220 in 2019. The facility, which strengthens the U.S. aerospace industry, is part of Airbus’ strategy to enhance its global competitiveness by meeting the growing needs of its customers in the United States and beyond.

Program Highlights:

• CapEx Portfolio & Strategy Support: 50%
  • Assist in gathering data and preparing documents for the Capital Investment Strategy for U.S. Operations (MMS A320, Kinston).
  • Support the development and documentation of the multi-year investment roadmap.
  • Learn how investment priorities are arbitrated and aligned with TCO objectives and business strategy.
  • Assess (provide view) on Capex Investments Projects and Make&Buy on hourly rate / unit costs.
• CapEx Governance & Performance Assistance: 30%
  • Support the establishment, organization and documentation of CapEx Governance meetings (e.g., change control boards, CapEx Multi-Functional Teams).
  • Assist with collecting data for performance cascades and CapEx performance reporting to the U.S. Operations Senior Leadership Team.
  • Help track company requirements for CapEx funded projects managed by the project manager network.
• Administrative & General Support: 20%
  • Support the documentation and execution of capital asset related make vs buy analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Assist in tracking the end-to-end deployment of CapEx and the realization of asset benefits.
  • Provide administrative support for major capital programs and construction projects in the U.S. (e.g., Mobile Site Services, Kinston Post Merger Integration).
  • Provide ad-hoc support to the Operational Excellence Department in the US.

Your Boarding Pass:

• Currently enrolled in a relevant college/university degree program, required
• Seeking degree in Finance / Business, preferred
• Able to work onsite in Mobile, AL for duration of Summer Internship, required
• Skilled in the use of computer/programs to include Microsoft/Google Suite of products
• Communicate effectively in verbal and written form with internal and external customers
• Must be well organized and have good time management skills

Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need of visa sponsorship/work authorization is required.

Physical Requirements:

• Onsite: 100%
• Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.
• Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Required daily.
• Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Required daily.
• Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Required daily.
• Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
• Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.
• Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer. Required daily.
• Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.
• Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
• Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approximately 5% - 10%.
• Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Required daily.
• Personal Protective Equipment required: steel toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
