A Security Operations Intern is an integral part of the Information Security team at Workiva. You will gain real-world experience in the Security Operation Center (SOC) by helping resolve security issues, developing defensive capabilities, and maintaining Workiva’s security posture.
What You'll Do
Document, investigate, and report on information security issues and emerging trends
Provide Incident Response support when an actionable incident is confirmed
Manage and configure tools and devices to expand our security monitoring infrastructure
Develop and maintain alerts, reports, and visualizations to assist with routine security and compliance tasks
Triage and respond to reported and generated security alerts
Collaborate with other teams to gather information regarding security problems, issues, and ideas
What You'll Need
Minimum Qualifications
Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program, preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a similar degree program with a security focus
Preferred Qualifications
Strong ethical and discretionary ability to handle sensitive information and data
Strong communication and social networking skills (written, verbal, listening) to collaborate with other teams across the organization
Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Self-motivated to research and understand how things work
Working knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems
Basic competency in one or more programming languages (Python, Java, SQL, Go, and/or Dart)
Familiarity with Splunk (SPL) query language and/or Amazon Web Services (AWS)
Travel Requirements & Working Conditions
Minimal travel
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely and not in a Workiva office
Sponsorship Requirements
Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require sponsorship now or in the future
