Role Overview
We are seeking a Subcontracts Manager to join our Contracts & Legal team and support the rapid growth of Slingshot’s government and commercial business. This role will manage subcontract agreements from pre-award through closeout, ensuring compliance with FAR/DFARS, SBIR Phase III, OTAs, CTAs, and commercial contracting terms. The Subcontracts Manager will partner closely with capture, proposals, program management, finance, and legal to negotiate favorable terms, manage risk, and support Slingshot’s product-first, ARR-focused contracting model.
Key Responsibilities
- Subcontract Management
- Draft, negotiate, and administer subcontracts, teaming agreements, CTAs, NDAs, LOIs, and flowdowns.
- Ensure subcontract terms align with prime contract requirements (FAR/DFARS, SBIR Phase III, OTA, etc.).
- Support subcontractor onboarding, compliance, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Pre-Award Support
- Support proposal teams in preparing compliant subcontractor packages, including pricing, cost/price analysis, and representations & certifications.
- Work with capture and legal to structure subcontracting approaches that align with government and commercial procurement strategies.
- Post-Award Administration
- Monitor subcontractor performance, invoices, and deliverables to ensure contractual compliance.
- Administer subcontract modifications, extensions, and closeouts.
- Partner with program managers to identify and mitigate subcontract risks.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain compliance with company policies, government regulations, and customer requirements.
- Support internal and external audits of subcontract files.
- Track and manage subcontract reporting requirements (e.g., small business, SBIR, cybersecurity).
- Collaboration
- Work closely with Contracts, Legal, Finance, Program Management, and Sales to ensure subcontract strategies support Slingshot’s growth objectives.
- Advise business leaders on subcontract risk, structure, and negotiation positions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Contracts, Legal Studies, or related field (Master’s or JD preferred).
- 5–8+ years of subcontract management experience in aerospace, defense, or government contracting.
- Deep knowledge of FAR/DFARS, SBIR, OTA, IDIQ, and subcontracting best practices.
- Experience drafting and negotiating subcontract agreements, flowdowns, and CTAs.
- Strong understanding of cost/price analysis, compliance, and risk management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
