Our Company.  Time4Learning, a Cambium® Learning Group Brand, offers award-winning online curriculum, resources, and programs for at-home use and within alternative learning settings. Time4Learning has three major brands - its flagship product, Time4Learning, an online core curriculum and supplemental program for students in grades PreK-12th grade; Homeschool.com Marketplace, a popular destination for families looking for tips and advice on homeschooling and great deals on home education products; and Brightspire Virtual School, an accredited online school for students in grades 6-12. Time4Learning is experiencing a period of rapid growth and working to expand our home education product line and our reach into new and evolving learning environments.

Our Team. Time4Learning is a remote-first group with team members from coast to coast. As a long-standing leader in the home education space, T4L attracts a diverse group of talented people who create delightful learning experiences for students and supportive resources and tools for parents. Qualified candidates bring curiosity, humility, and an open mind for the diverse and unique ways students learn at home.

Our Culture. The T4L team values diversity of thought, experience, and approach so that we can offer the best home education products on the market. We work together collaboratively and with purpose, but don’t take ourselves too seriously. We establish rapport through monthly team building activities and cross-functional projects that offer staff opportunities to work with people who have different skill sets and perspectives.

Vision for this Position. As a Student Success Advisor at Brightspire, you’ll be the consistent, caring touchpoint for a caseload of students and families throughout the academic year. Your mission is to guide, motivate, and mentor learners to stay engaged and on track—while ensuring their families feel supported, informed, and equipped to navigate virtual schooling successfully. You are part coach, part advocate, and fully invested in helping students reach their full potential. Your main accountability will be the retention of the students and families we serve.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Student Mentorship & Support

  • Build supportive relationships with students and their families through regular one-on-one check-ins.

  • Help students set academic, personal, and future-focused goals—and hold them accountable to their progress.

  • Identify signs of disengagement or distress and intervene with empathy, resources, or referrals as needed.

  • Coach students on time management, motivation, study skills, and digital learning habits.

  • Foster a sense of belonging by encouraging participation in community events and student life activities.

2. Family Engagement

  • Serve as a reliable liaison for parents and caregivers, answering questions and providing timely updates.

  • Offer guidance to families on how to support their child’s learning journey in a virtual environment.

  • Celebrate student wins with families and help troubleshoot challenges together.

3. Re-enrollment & Retention

  • Support families through the re-enrollment process and encourage ongoing commitment to the school.

  • Track and report on student engagement, satisfaction, and retention metrics.

4. Collaboration & Communication

  • Communicate regularly with instructors, counselors, and administrators to provide holistic student support.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of student interactions, goals, interventions, and outcomes.

  • Advocate for students’ needs and help connect them to additional services when appropriate.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field (Master’s degree a plus).

  • 3+ years of experience in student advising, coaching, or academic support—ideally in a virtual setting.

  • Proven understanding of adolescent development and family dynamics.

  • High emotional intelligence, effective listening skills, and a solutions-focused mindset.

  • Proficiency in using digital communication tools and learning platforms.

  • Cultural aptitude and a commitment to fostering inclusive, equitable experiences for all learners.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
