Who We Are

Spot & Tango is a pet health & wellness brand on a mission to make mealtime better for dogs, and life simpler for the people who love them. Our recipes are developed by leading animal nutritionists, and are made with only real, human-grade ingredients... and nothing artificial. Through UnKibble™ and our original fresh-frozen line, we’re rethinking what feeding your dog well can look like, one bowl at a time. Since our founding in 2018, we have served over 200 million meals to happy pets across the US and Canada.

We’re a team of builders, problem solvers and dog people, united by the belief that dogs deserve better. We’re looking for people who want to do the best work of their career, dig into challenges with smart people, and help shape a brand that’s redefining an entire category. This is a chance to join a high-growth e-commerce company and have an outsized impact in a fast-paced, ambitious environment. Plus, you get to think about dogs all day.

Who You Are

You’ll work closely with senior leadership and the broader strategy team to identify and evaluate potential growth opportunities. Every day will be different, and could include building out an opportunity sizing model or deep-diving into a country’s import regulations. You’ll also own our consumer and competitor research roadmap, so our biggest bets are grounded in what customers actually want. As projects move to execution, you’ll work cross-functionally to align on deliverables and ensure we stay on track. This role offers direct exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional influence across Marketing, Product, Finance and Operations. You’re analytical, business-minded, and naturally curious; just as eager to dig into a P&L as you are to pick up the phone and speak directly with customers. You’re a strong quant: comfortable building models from scratch, working through retail math (e.g., pricing, margin, velocity), and pressure-testing assumptions without needing a template. You balance structured analysis with strong intuition, and know how to translate detailed analysis into a clear recommendation for stakeholders. The ideal candidate has a bias towards action, thrives in environments where priorities can shift quickly, and takes pride in turning ambiguous problems into concrete, measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Own the analytics and modeling for strategic projects (e.g., retail channel expansion, new geographies) and synthesize insights into clear, structured business cases in partnership with Finance and Operations
  • Develop decision-making frameworks and strategic recommendations grounded in data, strategic fit, and resourcing needs to guide go/no-go decisions; present findings to senior leadership in clear, compelling formats
  • Provide analytical rigor, strategic thought partnership, and project management for ad hoc cross-functional projects (e.g., evaluating how ancillary products are displayed in the funnel)
  • Own the consumer and competitor research roadmap, from our recurring brand awareness and perception survey to ad hoc surveys and 1:1 consumer interviews
  • Monitor pricing, product launches, marketing campaigns, promotions, and distribution changes across key competitors
  • Build detailed cross-functional execution plans, including timelines, owners, and risks; track progress against plans, flag risks early, and facilitate cross-functional alignment and problem-solving

Requirements

  • 2-4  years of experience at a top-tier management/strategy consulting firm; experience with membership or subscription businesses is a plus. Experience working in the consumer goods, food, or retail industry is a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, statistics, economics, data science, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong quantitative skills and grasp of statistical methodologies, with a proven ability to independently build models from scratch (e.g., market sizing, P&L, retail velocity).
  • Strong understanding of e-commerce and retail performance metrics (e.g., CAC, LTV, velocity, gross margin).
  • Experience designing, writing, and analyzing surveys, leading 1:1 consumer interviews, and writing questionnaires/discussion guides.
  • Experience managing the full research lifecycle from planning to insight delivery, and effectively communicating findings to stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Expertise in managing multiple initiatives independently, prioritizing effectively, and driving projects from concept to execution.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; familiarity with statistical analysis software (e.g., R, SPSS, or similar tools), BI tools (e.g., Looker, Omni, or similar), and/or syndicated retail data (e.g., Nielsen) a plus.
  • Exceptional work ethic and ability to independently create and drive workstreams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven startup environment.
  • Self-starter who is comfortable with ambiguity and able to react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Dog lovers a plus!

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
