WHAT WE NEED FROM EVERYONE:

Live our values & do the brave thing.

Our Values: Good Enough is Not Enough. Grab an Oar. Be More Human. Play Like a Pirate.

Doing the brave thing is about courage. It’s about never being a spectator. Speaking up with clarity and conviction and kindness. Not hedging our points-of-view with clients or each other. Saying what we think when it’s in the best interest of the idea or the people, even if it’s uncomfortable. Being willing to take smart risks. Making tough decisions without agonizing. And, being transparent and vulnerable in search of the best. This is the expectation for all of us. In turn, we commit to perpetuating a culture where bravery is rewarded and support is always within reach.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

We’re seeking a hungry, curious strategist who thrives in a fast-paced, creatively driven agency environment like Chiat. You have a deep love of sports and the culture of sport, a keen cultural radar, and a strong sense of taste. You’re entrepreneurial, see opportunities where others see challenges, and can move quickly in ambiguity without losing composure. You’re a natural project manager, able to shepherd projects, big or small, from concept to execution.

You are intellectually curious, culturally savvy, and eager to make a meaningful impact early in your career. While brand strategy is your focus and your MO, you are acutely attuned to social and digital trends and understand how culture intersects with brand storytelling.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Deliver consistently insightful, clear contributions to any brief.
  • Hone your ability to edit thoughts that are good but not great, or don’t solve the problem.
  • Present ideas confidently and persuasively.
  • A team player and cross-functional collaborator who can effectively partner with Brand Management, Data, Connections, and Creative teams.
  • Stay informed about cultural conversations, trends, and social dynamics that shape audience perceptions.
  • Proactively take ownership of your work and the success of the projects you touch, as well as identifying opportunities across the business.
  • Be a student of great creativity in our industry and beyond.

 WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Use research, data, and cultural insights to write original, actionable, and measurable briefs for our brands.
  • Rigorously interrogate brand, audience, and client needs to drive strategy.
  • Serve as a trusted supporting partner to the strategy and creative teams, helping them bring ideas to life.
  • Help unpack complex brand or business problems, identifying both barriers and opportunities.
  • Use agency tools, gain and share knowledge, and guide others.
  • Explain how cultural and social trends impact consumer behavior, brand perception, and opportunity spaces.
  • Confidently develop discussion guides and moderate qualitative research sessions.
  • Contribute to internal and external workshops, helping shape ideas and brand platform thinking.
  • Establish strong, collaborative relationships across Creative, Brand, Media, CNX, and Data teams, as well as other Strategists.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years’ experience in advertising, brand strategy, marketing, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or contributing to successful brand work.
  • Deep passion for sports and cultural insight into the world of sport.
  • Exceptional conceptual thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset—sees opportunity, drives solution,s and takes ownership.
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguity and fast-moving environments.
  • Natural project management skills; able to move projects forward independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organization, and written communication skills.

All hires must be located in or willing to relocate to Los Angeles to work from our offices, hybrid three days a week.

The annual salary band for this title is $75,000-$100,000 and may vary depending on the candidate’s experience. Other compensation includes relocation costs, if applicable. Benefits for this role include health/vision/dental insurance, 401(k), stock purchase, vacation, sick and personal days. Also, you will be eligible (approximately thirty days after you commence employment) to participate in all disability, life, travel insurance plans and programs, retirement plans subject to the terms and conditions of such benefit plans. Please don’t let our posted ranges keep you from exploring this or any other exciting opportunities within TBWA.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
