We are seeking a Strategic Workforce Planning Senior Analyst to join our People Experience (PX) team in Newport Beach, CA, reporting to the Director, Workforce Planning.

This is an individual contributor role focused on supporting and strengthening the Strategic Workforce Planning (SWP) capability at Pacific Life. The position plays a key role in developing analyses, models, and insights that inform workforce decisions, while partnering closely with Workforce Planning, People Analytics, People Business Partners, Finance, and business stakeholders. From time to time, the role will also contribute to people analytics initiatives, reflecting Pacific Life’s integrated People Intelligence model.

How you’ll help move us forward:

  • Support the delivery of strategic workforce planning, workforce strategy and people analytics initiatives across North America, Europe, and APAC, working under the guidance of the Director of Workforce Planning.

  • Analyze workforce data to develop insights into future headcount, skills, and location needs, translating findings into clear and practical outputs for stakeholders.

  • Build, maintain, and enhance workforce planning models, forecasts, and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decision-making.

  • Conduct forward-looking analysis on internal workforce trends, external labor market dynamics, and emerging technologies to inform workforce supply and demand planning.

  • Partner with People Business Partners, Finance (FP&A), and People Analytics to align workforce insights with business planning and financial cycles.

  • Contribute to workforce planning projects or defined workstreams, supporting timelines, stakeholder coordination, and delivery of agreed outputs.

  • Support the production of materials, dashboards, and presentations that communicate workforce insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Collaborate closely with People Analytics to ensure consistency and alignment between workforce plans, analytics outputs, and broader HR insights across the employee lifecycle.

The experience you bring:

  • 5 years of demonstrated experience in workforce planning, people analytics, HR analytics, or a related analytical discipline.

  • Experience working in fast-paced or consulting-style environments, either in-house or externally.

  • Strong analytical capability, with advanced proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience building models, forecasts, and scenarios.

  • Experience working with workforce planning platforms and HR systems (e.g., Workday Adaptive Planning, Orgvue, Visier, Workday) and analytics or visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, SQL, Alteryx).

  • Ability to interpret complex data and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Well-developed organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines.

  • A proactive, detail-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a broader team.

What makes you stand out:

  • Experience working for a Tier 1, Tier 2 or Big 4 consultancy firm.

  • Experience supporting strategic workforce planning or people analytics in a large, complex, or global organization.

  • Exposure to labor market analysis, future of work trends, skills planning, or strategic talent initiatives.

  • Experience producing analyses or forecasts that have informed workforce, talent, or financial decisions.

  • Familiarity with matrixed organizations and partnering across HR, Finance, and business teams.

  • Professional certification or advanced education in a relevant field (e.g., analytics, HR, workforce planning, organizational development).

  • Knowledge of the Life Insurance or broader Financial Services industry.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
