As a key member of Coinbase’s Finance team, the Strategic Sourcing Manager plays a critical role in optimizing vendor relationships, managing multimillion-dollar contracts, and driving financial risk mitigation strategies that support Coinbase’s mission. This role demands a high level of expertise in strategic sourcing, vendor management, and data-driven decision-making, while embodying Coinbase’s values: Act Like an Owner, Clear Communication, Customer Focus, Efficient Execution, Continuous Learning, and Positive Energy.
This position entails managing highly complex sourcing challenges and driving significant impact across the company. With discretion and autonomy, you will lead sourcing strategies, influence policies, and manage multimillion-dollar vendor relationships. You are expected to leverage deep technical knowledge, advanced communication, and cross-functional leadership skills to shape Coinbase’s sourcing decisions and strategic direction.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Strategic Leadership: Act as a trusted advisor to internal teams and a primary external-facing representative for vendor communications and negotiations.
- Advanced Negotiations: Lead contract negotiations for new and existing suppliers, partnering with Legal and business stakeholders to secure favorable terms.
- Risk Mitigation: Develop and deploy sourcing strategies that reduce financial, legal, and operational risks, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Spend Management: Execute and oversee spend management projects, with goals to optimize savings, enhance process efficiency, consolidate suppliers, and improve transparency and control.
- Complex Analysis: Conduct market research, RFx strategy development, supplier evaluations, and detailed cost modeling to drive award recommendations and sourcing strategies.
- Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate sourcing decisions and their impact to leadership while aligning cross-functional teams on project objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive adoption of best-in-class sourcing practices and foster innovation through cutting-edge tools and technologies.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Education & Background:
- BA/BS in Business, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, or related fields is required; MBA or advanced degree is highly preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement, preferably in high-growth, fast-paced industries.
- Skills & Expertise:
- Proven ability to manage and negotiate multimillion-dollar contracts and vendor relationships.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills with demonstrated ability to drive creative problem-solving and impactful decision-making.
- Experience leading large-scale projects with cross-functional teams.
- Expertise in spend management tools and mitigation frameworks.
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Advanced negotiation skills with the ability to influence and align cross-functional teams at all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with expertise in delivering clear, concise recommendations to leadership teams.
- Cultural Fit:

- Demonstrated alignment with Coinbase’s values of ownership, efficient execution, customer focus, and continuous learning.
Nice to haves:
- Paralegal certification or formal contract law training.
- Familiarity with sourcing and spend management technologies.
- Actively engaged in the crypto space or a Coinbase user.
