Job Description

The Strategic Program Manager (AMG) is responsible for leading the SVD strategy and program management cadence. This role partners closely with AMG and Enterprise Strategy to translate strategic priorities into actionable roadmaps. The manager owns the annual strategy planning process for SVD, drives governance and execution oversight across key strategic initiatives (including NPI activities and cross-functional programs), and acts as chief-of-staff to the SVD senior leadership team to ensure alignment, disciplined decision-making, and clear communication across the organization.

Key Accountabilities
  • Lead strategy development for SVD, interfacing across the business and liaising with AMG & Enterprise Strategy teams.
  • Run the annual strategy planning process, consolidate inputs, prepare executive materials, and establish execution plans and success measures.
  • Provide program management governance for NPI activities, including review cadence, milestone tracking, and escalation of risks/issues.
  • Consolidate M&A scanning, evaluation, business case justification, and execution activities with stakeholders.
  • Operate as chief of staff for the SVD senior leadership team, owning operating rhythm, decisions/actions tracking, and leadership communications.
  • Serve as a key liaison for AMG and Enterprise strategy programs, ensuring alignment and coordinated execution.
  • Lead communication of strategy across SVD teams to enable understanding, alignment, and engagement.
About the Role

The role brings structure to ambiguous, cross-functional work, ensuring priorities are translated into clear plans, governance, and communications. Success requires strong executive-level stakeholder management, fluency with business strategy and portfolio/program governance, and the ability to influence without authority across a global matrix.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic and cross-functional programs for SVD, partnering with AMG and Enterprise stakeholders.
  • Define program scope, success measures, governance, timeline, and integrated workplan.
  • Translate strategy into executable initiatives and decision-ready materials.
  • Drive execution rigor: milestone tracking, KPI reporting, dependency management, and proactive risk/issue management.
  • Identify, surface, and escalate critical decisions, risks, and trade-offs; recommend options and mitigation paths.
  • Build and execute stakeholder communication and change approach.
  • Plan and facilitate executive and cross-functional forums, capturing decisions and actions.
  • Coordinate annual strategy planning deliverables and ensure alignment across the portfolio.
  • Ensure operational handover of deliverables and closure documentation at program completion.
  • Continuously improve program management standards and templates.
  • Demonstrate ownership and bias for action—anticipate obstacles, drive resolution, and unblock teams.
  • Synthesize complex information into crisp insights and recommendations for senior leaders.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s/MBA preferred)
  • 10+ years of experience in program/project/portfolio management, strategy & operations, consulting, or related roles
  • Strong business acumen and experience with strategic planning and governance rhythms
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage at senior leadership level
  • Ability to manage complexity and uncertainty while maintaining attention to detail and delivery discipline
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
