Objective

The client is seeking a strategic content writer to support its growing focus on Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) and help translate its evolving market positioning into compelling, practical, multichannel content.
The writer will serve as a collaborative thought partner, helping the client establish its differentiated, AI-native approach to SPM while creating content that resonates with CIOs, corporate strategy leaders, and other business executives.

Profile Overview

The ideal writer is a B2B technology content expert with direct Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) experience and a strong understanding of its buyers, challenges, and competitive landscape. They should be able to develop multichannel, campaign-driven content, adapt ideas across formats, and work collaboratively in an evolving environment.
The writer should be proactive and strategic, bringing their own ideas and market knowledge rather than relying on detailed direction.

  • 45 hours/mo to start
Responsibilities
  • Develop authoritative, comprehensive content around Strategic Portfolio Management, strategy execution, and related business challenges.

  • Create and refresh website and product content using relevant SPM terminology and positioning.
  • Develop practical, day-to-day content that connects audience challenges to the client's product rather than relying on overly academic or generic content.
  • Repurpose and adapt ideas across blogs, articles, social media, website content, and other campaign channels.
  • Approach content at the campaign level, helping coordinate messaging across owned and third-party channels.
  • Conduct stakeholder and subject-matter-expert interviews to capture the client's perspective and product differentiation.
  • Incorporate evolving messaging, enablement materials, positioning statements, and internal guidance into content.
  • Support thought leadership that is human-led, experience-driven, and credible to executive audiences.
  • Identify opportunities to connect existing OKR and strategy content to the client's broader SPM positioning.
  • Collaborate proactively with stakeholders and contribute ideas based on knowledge of the SPM market and its buyers.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Demonstrated professional writing experience in Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) or a closely related enterprise technology category.
  • Strong understanding of SPM buyers, particularly CIOs, corporate strategy teams, and leaders responsible for capital and resource allocation.
  • Familiarity with the established SPM competitive landscape and legacy vendors.
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex B2B SaaS and AI concepts clearly.
  • Experience creating content across multiple channels, including blogs, website copy, landing pages, thought leadership, social media, and long-form articles.
  • Experience developing competitor comparison and product-positioning content.
  • Ability to transform a core narrative or asset into a coordinated multichannel campaign.
  • Strong interviewing and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Comfortable working with evolving messaging and incomplete information.
  • Proactive, self-directed working style with the ability to act as a strategic thought partner.
  • Able to learn the client's product and differentiation quickly while contributing existing market knowledge.
Especially Valuable
  • Existing experience writing for the SPM category or vendors serving similar buyers.
  • Knowledge of Gartner and Forrester's coverage of the Strategic Portfolio Management market.
  • Experience writing for CIO and enterprise strategy audiences.
  • Familiarity with OKRs, strategy execution, project/portfolio management, and resource allocation.
  • Experience with AI-native enterprise software positioning.
  • Background developing integrated B2B content campaigns rather than standalone assets.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
