Strategic Media & Marketing Manager - epocrates

We are looking for a Strategic Media & Marketing Manager to join the Digital Strategy team within our epocrates division. In this role, the Strategic Media & Marketing Manager Associate will lead the development of insight-driven media and marketing strategies that shape the solutions included in RFP responses and proactive proposals. This individual will determine what products, channels, audiences, and investment strategies should be recommended to achieve advertiser objectives and drive revenue growth. Working closely with The Creative Studio, Sales, Client Success, Pricing, and Data teams, the Strategic Media & Marketing Manager will translate advertiser goals and market insights into strategic media plan recommendations that position the company as a consultative partner.

The Team: epocrates, Inc., an athenahealth company, is recognized for developing the #1 medical application among U.S. physicians for clinical content, practice tools, and health industry engagement at the point of care. The Digital Strategy team within epocrates partners with Sales, Client Success, Pricing, Data, Creative Studio, and Product teams. They support cross-functional planning, campaign strategy, and proposal development across product lines, incorporating data and insights into strategic recommendations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead development of strategic media and marketing plans for RFP responses and proactive proposals.

  • Define channels, placements, audiences, and investment levels that best achieve advertiser objectives.

  • Serve as the strategic planning lead for assigned RFPs and key proposal opportunities.

  • Define the commercial solution architecture that informs proposal development.

  • Use campaign performance data, audience intelligence, and benchmarks to inform planning decisions.

  • Develop strategic recommendations that improve campaign effectiveness and long‑term client value.

  • Partner with Pricing, Deal Desk, and Ad Operations to ensure strategies are executable.

  • Work with Product and Data teams to incorporate new capabilities into planning frameworks.

Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in marketing, strategy, analytics, or related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in media planning, commercial strategy, or advertising strategy roles.

  • Strong ability to translate advertiser objectives and data insights into strategic media recommendations.

  • Experience supporting RFP responses, proposal development, or solution design in a client-facing environment.

  • Strong collaboration, storytelling, and project management skills.

  • Experience working cross-functionally in a fast-paced, matrixed organization.

  • Familiarity with media planning tools, forecasting models, and audience intelligence platforms preferred.

  • Experience in pharmaceutical marketing

  • Experience designing integrated media strategies that combine content, audience targeting, and engagement tactics.

  • Familiarity with ROI modeling, campaign measurement, and performance optimization frameworks.

  • Experience contributing to insight-driven proposals that integrate audience data and behavioral intelligence.


Expected Compensation

$114,000 - $194,000

The base salary range shown reflects the full range for this role from minimum to maximum. At athenahealth, base pay depends on multiple factors, including job-related experience, relevant knowledge and skills, how your qualifications compare to others in similar roles, and geographical market rates.  Base pay is only one part of our competitive Total Rewards package - depending on role eligibility, we offer both short and long-term incentives by way of an annual discretionary bonus plan, variable compensation plan, and equity plans.
