Who We Are

Spot & Tango is an innovative pet health & wellness brand that delivers personalized meal plans on a subscription basis. Our recipes are developed by leading animal nutritionists, and are made with only real, human-grade ingredients... and nothing artificial! We have lofty goals (to make every dog in the country healthier, and every pet parent happier!) and we are looking for the right people to help us get there. This is an exciting opportunity to join a VC-backed, high-growth, e-commerce startup and have an outsized impact in an extremely fast-paced environment. Plus, you get to think about dogs all day!

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Strategic Marketing Manager who thrives at the intersection of marketing, growth, and business development. This is a highly entrepreneurial role for someone who’s equal parts analytical thinker, creative problem solver, and operational doer.

You’ll be responsible for identifying, testing, and scaling new ways to build awareness, acquire customers, and unlock growth—working cross-functionally and independently to develop initiatives that sit outside our core paid channels. This could include everything from building partnerships to shaping field programs, expanding our community footprint, or activating underutilized organic levers.

This role is ideal for someone with a background in consulting, finance, or high-growth environments who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and own high-impact initiatives from strategy through execution.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead strategic initiatives that drive brand visibility and customer growth beyond paid media
  • Identify, assess, and launch new awareness channels and growth levers — such as partnerships, field activations, SEO programs, or expert communities
  • Work closely with internal teams (Growth, Creative, Product, Ops) to bring ideas to life and measure impact
  • Own project management, timelines, and cross-functional coordination for new initiatives (e.g., product launches, events, brand partnerships)
  • Build and maintain relationships with external partners, collaborators, and advisors
  • Analyze performance, report on key metrics, and iterate based on learnings
  • Bring a self-starter mentality and “founder’s mindset” to everyday problem-solving

Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in marketing, growth, consulting, or business development
  • A strategic thinker with an analytical approach and strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to ideate and execute scrappy, high-impact programs with limited direction
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong project management and organizational chops — you get things done
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and testing into new growth opportunities
  • Passion for brand-building and customer experience
  • Bonus: experience in eCommerce, partnerships, SEO, or field marketing
  • Dog lovers are a plus!

This is a hybrid position based in our Midtown Manhattan office. In office presence is required on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Spot & Tango is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
