About the Role:

The Strategic Finance Manager reports directly to the CFO and serves as a key financial partner across the business. This is a hands-on, builder role: this individual personally builds the models, dashboards, and automations that power the company, owns core financial processes end-to-end — planning, forecasting, reporting, unit economics, revenue operations, and financial systems — and translates data into actionable insights that inform executive decision-making.

This is a role designed to grow into broader finance leadership: the person who owns it will develop strategy, implement solutions, and partner cross-functionally to drive growth, efficiency, and profitability across the business — expanding their scope, team, and influence as the company scales.

What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Analysis & Business Partnership
    • Translate complex data into clear financial narratives that inform leadership decisions.
    • Partner with executives to identify growth opportunities, operational efficiencies, and investment trade-offs.
    • Drive cross-functional initiatives focused on revenue growth, margin enhancement, and cost efficiency.
    • In partnership with the CFO, prepare board and investor materials, analyses, and supporting KPI reporting.
  • Revenue Operations & Strategy
    • Lead the financial oversight of the quote-to-cash process, partnering closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to ensure accurate, efficient, and scalable workflows from quoting and contracting through invoicing, revenue recognition, and renewals.
    • Lead efforts to automate and improve quoting, contracting, billing, and revenue recognition processes to drive accuracy, scalability, and speed.
    • Develop and maintain robust revenue analytics, reporting, and forecasting frameworks that provide visibility into performance, conversion, retention, provider utilization, and margin by client and segment.
    • Partner with Sales and other commercial leaders to shape pricing and packaging, own the pricing and provider-hiring calculators that drive deal- and role-level economics, and ensure financial alignment in deal structures and incentive plans.
  • Systems, Automation, and AI Enablement
    • Lead initiatives to streamline and consolidate financial systems and data flows across the business.
    • Design, automate, and own a company-wide KPI package (weekly exec dashboard, monthly operating review, board packet, etc.) with clear definitions/owners/targets, drill-through to transactional detail, and a single source of truth across CRM–billing–GL.
    • Evaluate and implement automation and AI solutions to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance strategic insight.
    • Partner with technology and operations teams on integration and system improvement projects.
  • Financial Ownership & Operations
    • Lead annual budgeting, long-range planning, and rolling forecasts, aligning financial goals with strategic priorities.
    • Maintain and enhance financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools to support company performance measurement.
    • In collaboration with the Controller, own the close-to-forecast cycle end-to-end—standardize policies and controls, shorten close timelines, and improve forecast accuracy; deliver a reliable monthly operating package with clear variance drivers and actions.
    • In partnership with the Controller, own select high-judgment close activities — such as key accruals and analytical review — and drive continuous improvement in the quality and speed of the close, without owning day-to-day accounting execution.
    • Direct and review the work of junior finance staff on select analyses and reporting.
  • Procurement & Cost Optimization
    • Own vendor contracts, renewals, and spend analytics, and drive cost-reduction initiatives that improve operating leverage and support sustainable margin expansion.

What We're Looking For:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance or accounting
  • 2-5 years of experience in finance, strategy, operations, and/or data analytics
  • Experience in investment banking, private equity, management consulting, or a high-growth startup is strongly preferred, with a demonstrated bias toward owning problems end-to-end.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate workflows and accelerate analysis (required).

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strategic Thinking: Connects financial insights to business strategy; identifies opportunities for growth, margin enhancement, and efficiency.
  • Analytical Rigor: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to solve complex data and operational challenges through structured reasoning and insight generation.
  • Operational Ownership: Takes full ownership of initiatives with minimal direction and drives them to completion; consistently ensures accuracy and follow-through.
  • Organizational Excellence: Exceptionally strong organizational skills and attention to detail across multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
  • Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; remains agile and effective amid shifting priorities and limited resources.
  • Cross-Functional Influence: Builds strong relationships and credibility with business partners across teams; collaborates effectively to align stakeholders and drive results.
  • Project Leadership: Demonstrates strong communication and project management skills; able to plan, coordinate, and execute cross-functional initiatives with clarity and accountability.
  • Technology & Innovation: Leverages automation, AI, and systems integration to improve performance, scalability, and insight generation.
  • Communication & Storytelling: Distills complex financial and operational data into clear, compelling insights that influence executive decisions.

The on-target earnings (OTE) for this role are $130,000–$160,000, inclusive of bonus eligibility, plus equity. Actual compensation will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and qualifications.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
