Own Rain’s financial model, budgeting, cash forecasting, runway analysis, debt facility monitoring, and strategic finance initiatives. Rain is the world's first AI Financial Health Platform, serving 3.5 million employees at leading organizations like McDonald's, Marriott, and T-Mobile. Rain works in the background to optimize every employee's financial life to prevent shortfalls and build long-term stability. Backed by top investors including QED and Prosus, Rain has raised $150M in venture funding to fuel our next stage of hyper growth.

As we scale our core earned wage access (EWA) business and expand into new financial products, we're looking for a sharp, execution-oriented finance professional to own our financial infrastructure and help leadership navigate complex capital allocation and strategic decisions.

What you’ll do
  • Maintain and evolve Rain's core financial model, used for investor reporting, board presentations, internal target setting, budget management, and cash forecasting

  • Lead budget ownership across the organization — partnering with department heads to track performance, identify variances, and surface risks and opportunities to leadership

  • Own cash forecasting and runway modeling, ensuring leadership has accurate, real-time visibility into our liquidity position

  • Support structuring and monitoring of debt facilities, including covenant compliance, borrowing base reporting, and lender communications

  • Work directly with the COO on strategic projects, investor materials, and operational decision-making

  • Collaborate with the finance team to respond to recurring investor and board queries and support fundraising activities

  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis to evaluate new products, partnerships, and business models as Rain expands beyond EWA

  • Partner with the Accounting team on month-end close, accruals, and department cost allocation to ensure reporting accuracy

  • Translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders across the business

  • Drive automation of financial planning processes using tools such as Drivetrain to improve efficiency and scalability

Who you are
  • 3-5+ years of total experience with a strong foundation in investment banking, strategy consulting, M&A advisory, or corporate finance at a top tech company

  • Investment banking or transaction advisory experience strongly preferred

  • Strategic finance or FP&A experience at a high-growth startup is a strong plus

  • Expert-level Excel financial modeling skills — you should be comfortable building complex, multi-scenario models from scratch

  • Strong accounting knowledge and ability to read and interpret financial statements and understand accounting impacts

  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and investigative skills

  • High attention to detail with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent communicator who can distill complex analysis into crisp narratives for leadership, investors, and board members

  • Self-starter with the initiative to improve processes and drive outcomes independently — we're growing fast and want someone eager to bring their own ideas to the table

Why this role

You'll be joining a lean, entrepreneurial finance team with direct exposure to senior leadership and meaningful ownership from day one. This is not a maintenance role — it's a high-visibility position where your work directly shapes how Rain allocates capital, tells its financial story to investors, and makes strategic decisions at a critical stage of growth.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
