The Role: The Strategic Account Manager (SAM) will serve as a critical member of the Customer Engagement Team and will have an exciting opportunity within Syndax to build on the momentum of the successful launches of our first 2 products. The Strategic Account Manager is a senior field-based role for high-performing account managers who consistently demonstrate enterprise thinking, strategic leadership, and cross-functional influence. The SAM owns enterprise strategy for Syndax’s most complex academic and integrated health system accounts, with accountability for long-range planning, institutional impact, and system-wide pull-through across adult, pediatric, and AYA leukemia care.

The Strategic Account Manager is expected to shift engagement from transactional prescriber activity to coordinated institutional influence while compliantly fostering strong partnerships with commercial and non-commercial colleagues. The SAM will implement long-range account strategies, drive enterprise value creation, and coordinate cross-functional execution. The role reports to the Regional Business Director.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Lead commercial strategy and long-range account plans for Syndax’s most complex academic and integrated health systems.
  • Compliantly architect system-wide commercial initiatives, and regional/local congress strategy, alongside matrixed partners across assigned accounts.
  • Drive durable enterprise value through formulary access, inpatient pathway adoption, and standardized use across systems of care.
  • Serve as the commercial integrator across Oncology Account Managers, Oncology Clinical Educators, System of Care Directors, and Market Access.
  • Expand influence beyond prescribers to include institutional leadership, and C-suite stakeholders.
  • Identify enterprise education gaps and ensure coordinated, compliant pull-through within commercial.
  • Complement the OAM role by providing strategic depth while supporting OAMs in their day-to-day activities within jointly assigned accounts. 

 

Desired Experience/Education and Personal Attributes:

  • Proven success as an Account Manager with consistent performance in complex or large accounts.
  • Minimum 7+ years of previous pharmaceutical, biotech, and/or medical sales experience with a strong preference for Oncology/Hematology.
  • Collaborative and organizationally savvy team player with a history of success in a matrixed setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead enterprise initiatives and influence across a matrixed organization.
  • Expert at navigating complexities and removing barriers to advance corporate objectives in service of patients, caregivers, and HCPs.
  • Knowledge of the pharmaceutical marketplace and deep understanding of industry and broader trends in the healthcare landscape.
  • Technologically savvy and committed to leveraging data and advanced analytics daily to drive business results.
  • Ability to travel on a frequent overnight basis, with occasional weekend travel, depending on business needs.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have reliable access to a personal vehicle for travel as required by the role. 

 

Location: Syndax’s corporate office is in New York, NY.

Syndax offers a total compensation and rewards package that is among the most competitive in the industry. Base pay is just one element of our package and is determined within a range based on several factors including market data, experience, qualifications, demonstrated skills, relevant education or training, travel requirements and internal equity. Our overall package also includes an equity offering, annual target bonuses, and an outstanding benefits program. The anticipated annualized salary range for this role is $225,000 - $255,000.
