About SqlDBM

SqlDBM is the cloud-native data modeling platform that helps data teams design, document, and govern their data architecture in one collaborative workspace. Data architects, engineers, and analysts use SqlDBM to model across Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and more, with no software to install.

As modern data stacks grow, SqlDBM becomes the shared source of truth for how data is structured and what it means. That makes it central to data governance, migration, analytics engineering, and AI-readiness initiatives at some of the world's most data-driven enterprises.

About the role

As a Strategic Account Executive, you will own SqlDBM's most important customer relationships and win new logos among the largest companies in the world. The role combines expanding a book of strategic accounts with breaking into Global 2000 enterprises that have never bought from us.

You will take over a set of our most strategic customers and grow them by uncovering new use cases, business units, and data platforms where SqlDBM adds value. At the same time, you will run complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles into Fortune 500 and Global 2000 targets, selling to data leaders, enterprise architects, and executive sponsors.

You will report to SVP of Sales and Customer Success and work closely with Solutions Engineering, Customer Success, Product, and Marketing.

What you'll do

Expand strategic accounts

  • Take ownership of a named book of SqlDBM's most strategic customers and become their trusted advisor on data modeling and architecture.
  • Map each account's org structure, data platforms, and initiatives to find new expansion paths: additional business units, regions, teams, and cloud platforms.
  • Drive new use cases beyond the initial deployment, such as data governance and documentation, cloud migration, data mesh and domain modeling, dbt and analytics engineering workflows, and AI/ML data readiness.
  • Build and execute multi-year account plans with clear growth targets, executive sponsors, and mutual action plans.
  • Partner with Customer Success to protect and grow renewals, drive adoption, and turn power users into internal champions.
  • Lead executive business reviews that tie SqlDBM to measurable business outcomes.
Win new enterprise logos
  • Build pipeline across a target list of Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies, using account-based strategies with Marketing, SDRs, and partners.
  • Run complex enterprise sales cycles from first meeting through close, navigating procurement, security, legal, and IT architecture reviews.
  • Sell to multiple personas at once: CDOs, CIOs, VPs of Data, enterprise and data architects, and data engineering leaders.
  • Lead with business value, building ROI cases around productivity, governance, risk reduction, and faster delivery.
  • Co-sell with cloud data platform partners (Snowflake, Databricks, Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft) and systems integrators.
Operate with rigor
  • Forecast accurately and keep HubSpot current with deal stages, next steps, and risks.
  • Use a structured qualification methodology (MEDDPICC or similar) on every opportunity.
  • Feed customer insight back to Product and Marketing to shape the roadmap and enterprise messaging.

Qualifications

  • 20+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, including at least 10 years selling to large enterprises as a Strategic, Major, or Enterprise Account Executive.
  • A consistent record of meeting or exceeding quota, including six- and seven-figure deals.
  • Proven success expanding existing accounts through land-and-expand and multi-use-case selling.
  • Experience selling into data, analytics, or developer-focused buyers: data platforms, data governance, data integration, BI, or DevOps tooling.
  • Comfort leading long, multi-threaded sales cycles with technical evaluators, business sponsors, and procurement.
  • Strong executive presence and the ability to connect technical capabilities to business outcomes.
  • Working knowledge of the modern data stack (cloud data warehouses and lakehouses, ELT, dbt) and why data modeling matters.
  • Disciplined pipeline management and forecasting, using MEDDPICC, Command of the Message, or a similar framework.
  • Willingness to travel to customer sites and events as needed.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission
  • Opportunity to work with some of the largest, most influential data-driven organizations globally.
  • Remote-first work environment with travel opportunities for key customer engagements. This opportunity is on-site with some future hybrid flexibility.
  • Work alongside industry leaders and a world-class product team at the forefront of data innovation.
  • Health plan coverage for employees and covered dependents for medical, vision, dental, life, Short-term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and retirement account.
  • Paid parental leave after 12 months of employment.
  • Monthly internet stipend to eligible employees.
  • Strong career growth trajectory with stock option grant in a rapidly scaling enterprise-first SaaS company.

Compensation Range: $160,000-$340,000 annually

Range is indicative of On Target Earnings (OTE) and includes both base pay and commissions at 100% achievement of established targets. Base salary range is $160,000-$170,000 with OTE of $320,000-$340,000, with uncapped commission available. The total compensation and rewards package is determined based on multiple factors, such as the candidate's skills and experience, location, and other business conditions.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
