About the team

Lime is launching Lime for Business, a new business unit focused on reimagining employee transportation. From daily business travel to campus mobility and subsidized commuting, Lime for Business brings safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation into the heart of how companies operate. This is a rare opportunity to shape a brand-new product surface within Lime that serves entirely new users, workflows, and business models. As we build from the ground up, we are creating flexible, scalable experiences that extend Lime’s platform in meaningful ways while helping companies reduce friction, delight employees, and meet ambitious sustainability goals. We are early, moving fast, and building the foundation for a new line of business with global impact.

About the role

We’re looking for a Staff UX Designer to help us develop our Lime for Business Product from the ground up. As our first UX leader in this product space, you will play a critical role defining the vision for our Lime for Business Product suite, with a focus on employee-facing features in the Lime Rider mobile app. As a Staff designer, you’ll operate as a design leader and multiplier—setting direction, raising quality, and guiding teams through complex, ambiguous problems.

This is a remote position with a requirement for candidates residing in the United States to maintain effective collaboration across teams.

What You’ll Do:

  • Design intuitive, end-to-end mobile experiences for business users that support complex business rules and workflows, translating employer policies, eligibility, and usage constraints into clear, rider-friendly interactions.

  • Define and evolve the multi-platform vision for Lime for Business, with a primary focus on employee and rider-facing experiences in the Rider mobile app across key use cases such as commute, business travel, and campus mobility.

  • Lead full-cycle user centered design, from discovery and concepting through wireframes, high-fidelity designs, prototyping, and final specs—grounded in user research, business objectives, and technical constraints.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering and Customer Success Managers to deliver and iterate on cohesive, high-quality mobile experiences that integrate seamlessly with Lime’s existing Rider app architecture, design systems, and performance requirements.

  • Collaborate with Operations and Hardware partners to ensure mobile designs align with real-world rider behaviors, fleet availability, and on-the-ground realities.

  • Contribute to and extend Lime’s mobile design systems and UX frameworks, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and quality across employee-facing surfaces.

  • Influence product strategy through strong design storytelling, clearly articulating user problems, design rationale, trade-offs, and success metrics to cross-functional partners and leadership.

  • Help strengthen Lime’s design culture by mentoring peers, advocating for rider-centric decision-making, and raising the bar for mobile UX as Lime for Business scales.

About You:

  • 7+ years of experience in crafting, building and shipping quality consumer-facing products across a diverse group of platforms and form factors.

  • Expertise in mobile app design & development, preferred expertise in transportation, working with hardware partners.

  • Strong proficiency designing across web and multi-platform ecosystems.

  • An ability to own and drive the strategy and execution of entire end-to-end product solutions.

  • A process that grounds work in user research and considers the context of the user’s experience.

  • Meticulous and detail-oriented with an ability to execute at a high level of aesthetic craft.

  • Experience working in a very dynamic environment.

  • Highly proficient with Figma and iterating quickly as the ideas evolve.

  • Experience participating in both foundational and evaluative research.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Entrepreneurial spirit, comfortable in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Experience designing 0–1 products or founding design efforts within a new product area or business line.

  • Background in transportation, operations, logistics, or marketplace product ecosystems, or in environments that integrate with hardware or IoT devices.

  • Experience shaping or leading design systems

  • Experience designing internal tools for operators, customer success, or field teams, including workflow optimization and service design.

  • Comfortable leading or partnering closely with UX Research across both formative and evaluative research cycles.

  • Ability to drive product strategy in addition to execution—framing the problem space, defining end-to-end solutions, and influencing product, engineering, and business stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a senior IC who can grow into a leadership role as the team expands.

  • Passion for sustainability, safe mobility, and redefining how people move in cities, with empathy for diverse user groups (riders, employers, operators).

What We Offer

  • Comprehensive Health & Wellness: A choice of medical, dental, and vision plans. We also provide company-paid life and disability insurance and company-funded mental health benefits.

  • Financial & Retirement Planning: 401(k) plan with both pre-tax and Roth options, and access to a Health Savings Account (HSA) with a monthly company contribution.

  • Family & Fertility Support: Paid parental leave for birthing and non-birthing parents, plus fertility and family-forming benefits.

  • Paid Time Off: Unlimited vacation, paid leaves, and 10 company holidays.

  • Unique Lime Perks: Complimentary use of Lime vehicles in participating cities, a monthly phone allowance, dedicated learning and development days, and access to perks including One Medical, Wellhub, and Headspace.

The salary range listed reflects what Lime reasonably expects to offer for this role, with the final base salary determined by factors such as the candidate’s location and relevant skills and experience. Depending on the position, the total compensation package may also include discretionary annual performance bonus opportunities and equity, subject to applicable plan terms and eligibility requirements.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
