Who we are

Video is 90% of the world's data. Most of it is invisible to machines.
TwelveLabs builds the intelligence layer to change that. Our multimodal AI models understand video the way humans do β€” across sight, sound, and motion β€” and power production-scale AI workloads across media, entertainment, sports, security, and government.

We have raised more than $210 million from NEA, Radical Ventures, Amazon, NVIDIA, Snowflake, Databricks, Index Ventures, NAVER Ventures, Korea Investment Partners, Quadrille Capital, Red Bull Ventures, and AI pioneers including Fei-Fei Li, Silvio Savarese, and Alexandr Wang.

We are a global company, headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Seoul, New York, and London, and employees around the world. We believe the differences in our cultural, educational, and life experiences make our products stronger. Building technology that understands the world in all its complexity requires people who see it from every angle. We are looking for individuals who are driven by hard problems and want their work to matter. Come build it with us!

About the Role

TwelveLabs is looking for a Technical Marketing Writer who can take our video AI technology, Marengo and Pegasus, and turn it into content that a wide range of people actually want to read and use. This isn't a documentation role. You won't be writing API references or product manuals. You'll be the person who makes our technology feel approachable across audiences, whether that's a developer building with our API, a creator or AI-native builder using our models through Claude, ChatGPT, or an MCP server, or a marketer trying to understand what's possible.

You're comfortable enough with code and APIs to follow along with a technical implementation, but your real skill is translation. You can take something complex, like multimodal video embeddings or video-to-text reasoning, and shape it into whatever form fits the audience: a step-by-step tutorial for a developer, a plain-language explainer for someone using our models through a chat interface, or a forum post that sparks a conversation.

Candidates must be able to travel up to 10% of the time annually to attend conferences, off-site meetings, and other business-related events as required by the role. This role may require participation in on-site interviews and/or completion of in-person onboarding processes.

In this role, you will
  • Write blog posts, guides, video outlines, and tutorials that help a range of audiences, from developers to creators to AI-native builders, understand and start using TwelveLabs' products

  • Own SEO and on-page optimization for content, working with external SEO and web dev support to make sure what you write actually gets found

  • Create educational resources (explainers, how-tos, conceptual overviews) that lower the barrier to understanding video AI for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Write technical articles for external placement on developer forums, industry publications, and news sites

  • Support email and social copy when technical accuracy or product nuance matters

  • Partner with product, engineering, and partner marketing to stay current on what TwelveLabs can do and where it's headed, including how our models show up in tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and MCP servers

  • Keep a pulse on how competitors and the broader video AI space talk about their own technology, and use that to sharpen how we talk about ours

You may be a good fit if you have
  • Experience writing technical or product content for a mix of audiences, ideally including both developers and less technical end users

  • A portfolio that shows you can simplify a complex technical concept without dumbing it down, and that you can adjust register depending on who's reading

  • Enough technical fluency to read documentation, follow a code sample, or sit in on an engineering conversation and come away with something to write

  • Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals (you don't need to be an SEO specialist, but you should know how content and search intersect)

  • Strong instincts for structure: you know how to build a guide or tutorial that someone can actually follow, not just read

  • Comfort moving between formats: long-form guides one day, a tight forum post or social caption the next

Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with video, multimodal AI, or computer vision concepts

  • Experience writing about or using AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, or MCP servers, especially explaining them to non-technical audiences

  • Experience writing for developer communities (forums, Dev.to, Hacker News, Reddit)

  • Basic comfort with Git, APIs, or SDKs, enough to test something out yourself before writing about it

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent β€” not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
