Staff Technical Account Manager

Job Description:

The Skywalker Sound Development Group is seeking a high-impact, technically minded executive to drive the enterprise adoption of our advanced software platform. In this position, you will be responsible as the principal strategic partner to the world’s most prestigious media, technology, and entertainment organizations.

You will leverage deep insider knowledge of major studio ecosystems to cultivate long-cycle, high-value enterprise alliances—navigating complex technical environments to solve high-stakes production and supply chain bottlenecks. This role is designed for a heavyweight industry leader who commands immediate credibility with VP and C-suite executives, transforming technical capabilities into multi-million dollar business outcomes.

This role based in Los Angeles, which means the employee will work remotely on an ongoing basis from Los Angeles and will not have an assigned workspace at a Company designated location.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Revenue & Enterprise Growth: Lead the end-to-end commercial lifecycle for high-value enterprise accounts, driving the adoption of Skywalker Sound technology through multi-year, $1M+ partnerships.

  • Consultative Workflow & Supply Chain Architecture: Partner with client creative, operational, and technical leadership to diagnose complex production pain points. Architect bespoke enterprise software solutions that demonstrate clear ROI, operational efficiency, and modernized workflow transformation.

  • Executive Alliance & Relationship Management: Serve as the primary executive contact for key studio and streaming accounts, acting as the trusted bridge between the client’s executive suite and Skywalker Sound’s internal product and engineering teams.

  • Market Strategy & Commercial Intelligence: Synthesize complex media landscape trends, cloud infrastructure shifts, and global platform needs to shape Skywalker Sound’s long-term commercial positioning and product roadmap.

  • Executive Presentation & Business Case Delivery: Craft and deliver high-impact commercial pitches, technical deep-dives, and strategic business cases to C-suite and VP-level stakeholders across major global media entities.

  • Post-Sales Value Realization: Maintain senior oversight of post-close accounts to ensure successful enterprise-wide implementation, driving long-term retention, feature upgrades, and platform expansion.

Required Qualifications
  • Industry Leadership: 15+ years of progressive executive experience within major studio operations, digital media supply chains, global platform delivery, or enterprise media technology deployment.

  • Buyer-Side Expertise: A proven track record of evaluating, architecting, selecting, or managing enterprise-scale media software systems, workflows, and vendor partnerships from a major studio or streaming network perspective.

  • Commercial & Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated success driving or managing large-scale capital expenditures, multi-million dollar enterprise agreements, or complex, long-cycle technology adoptions with high-stakes operational outcomes.

  • Domain Expertise: Mastery of the global media and entertainment ecosystem, with specialized knowledge in digital content mastering, title stewardship, post-production, and global servicing pipelines.

  • Technical Fluency: Ability to "talk shop" fluidly with technology directors and chief engineers. Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, API-driven workflows, media asset management (MAM), and professional audio/video delivery systems.

  • Executive Presence & Communication: Exceptional storytelling and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to align creative stakeholders, technical engineers, and corporate procurement teams toward shared strategic goals.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Business, or a related field; or equivalent elite-level professional industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Executive Network: An established, high-level "rolodex" of contacts across the technical, operational, and creative leadership teams of major global studios, streaming platforms, and post-production houses.

  • Workflow Transformation Expertise: Proven experience leading large teams or sweeping corporate initiatives centered on scaling operations and turning ambiguous technical challenges into streamlined, sustainable outcomes.

  • Strategic Frameworks: Familiarity with modern strategic selling methodologies or executive corporate governance structures designed to manage complex, multi-stakeholder deal flows.

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles is $155,700.00-$208,700.00. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
