About Vantage:

Vantage is a cloud cost visibility and optimization platform, alternatively known as a FinOps platform. We help companies of all sizes manage their cloud infrastructure costs: everything from individual developers all the way up to multiple Fortune 500 customers. Our co-founders are industry veterans who have been former infrastructure engineers and product managers at DigitalOcean and AWS. The company is an efficient and hard working team of ~50 employees across the US with a New York City center of gravity.

Our current customers include Square, Aflac, PBS, FanDuel, PlanetScale, Starburst, Vercel, and many more.

Vantage has raised $25M in total venture capital, most recently a $21M Series A financing round in March of 2023.  Our investors include outstanding, top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Scale Venture Partners, Matthew Prince (Co-Founder & CEO, Cloudflare), Calvin French Owen (Co-Founder, Segment), Ben and Moisey Uretsky (Co-Founders, DigitalOcean), Stephanie and Nat Friedman (CEO, Github), Julia Lipton, Brianne Kimmel and others.

About The Role:

You will work with a tight team of product engineers who are responsible for shipping features across the Vantage product. This includes the core reporting experience, new provider integrations and onboarding/billing. The team is fast paced and is constantly shipping to production.

What You Will Do:
  • Collaborate with Product & Engineering leadership and founders on feature discovery, ideation, and implementation.

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers in building product features.

  • Define and guide technical architecture decisions to support future scaling of Vantage.

  • Take full ownership of end-to-end feature development, including tracking and reporting on customer impact.

  • Participate in customer calls with design and product teams to gain direct insight into user needs.

What We're Looking For:
  • A product-oriented software engineer with a passion for listening to and delighting customers

  • 10+ years of overall experience, including 5+ years of experience leading a team of engineers building and delivering features

  • Enjoy being a generalist working on both the frontend and backend

  • Prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.

  • Someone who has led impactful engineering projects and built architectures that operate at scale

  • Expertise in Ruby and Rails

  • BA/BS degree and 3-5 years of equivalent working experience

  • Someone excited to deliver quickly and hold a high degree of responsibility.

Bonus Points:
  • Monitoring and observability expertise

  • Experience building and deploying to cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)

  • Relevant Data Visualization / financial product experience

Pay & Benefits

The estimated annual US base salary range for this role is $200,000 - $230,000. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and education stipends.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
