Brides and bridesmaids alike count on Birdy Grey for their most important day-so much so that we've dressed over half a million bridesmaids (and counting) in less than 5 years.<br><strong>THE OPPORTUNITY: </strong>Staff Software Engineer<br><strong>REPORTS TO: </strong>Director of Engineering<br><strong>LOCATION:</strong> US - Remote<br>Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports remote work for eligible roles. We ask that all employees travel to either office once a quarter. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.<br>Birdy Grey is looking for an eCommerce focused <strong>Staff Software Engineer</strong> to lead the technical design, development, and launch of new features on our Shopify ecommerce storefront. This role will be responsible for implementing scalable architecture to support a growing brand. This is a player/coach position where the majority of your time will be spent writing code and a portion of your time will be spent scoping, planning, and strategizing.<br><strong>Scope Of Responsibilities</strong><ul><li>Design technical solutions to support the launch of new features</li><li>Enhance existing architecture to scale a growing product assortment </li><li>Introduce industry best practices, frameworks, and tools</li><li>Build highly efficient tools that empower end users (site merchandising, planning, operations) to optimize both the consumer experience and internal workflows </li><li>Work closely with ecommerce, marketing, and data teams to execute enhancements and features</li><li>Ensure compliance with all applicable accessibility standards, per WCAG 2.1 </li><li>Ensure compliance with all privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, etc)</li><li>Lead and promote a culture of impeccable documentation across all code bases</li><li>Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable and reliable architecture and code</li><li>Identify and mitigate risks throughout development lifecycles and iterative sprints</li><li>Serve as a technical resource and mentor for other engineers</li><li>Collaborate with Director of Engineering on managing technical roadmap</li><li>Collaborate with Product and Product Design on requirements, feasibility, tradeoffs and Product roadmap</li></ul><strong>THE RIGHT CANDIDATE: </strong>QUALIFICATIONS & PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES<br><strong>EDUCATION:</strong> Bachelor's Degree Required<br><strong>Experience / Requirements</strong><ul><li>8+ years in software engineering</li><li>Expert level JavaScript, CSS, HTML</li><li>Experience with Shopify plus and it's ecosystem</li><li>Expert level knowledge of modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Remix, Next.js, etc.)</li><li>Experience with component libraries </li><li>Experience with multi-site architecture</li><li>Experience with Liquid</li><li>Experience with Node, Python or Ruby</li><li>Experience with build tools (Webpack, Vite, Rollup)</li><li>Experience working with ERPs and integration engineering</li><li>Experience with various cloud services & architectures (GCP preferred)</li><li>Experience building developer tooling and optimizing the teams workflow and efficiency</li><li>Opinionated on how to build things and skilled in how to best weigh technical and business oriented trade-offs</li><li>Experience effectively influencing, building trust, and collaborating cross-functionally </li><li>Hard working and willing to roll sleeves up - no job is too big or too small. </li><li>You have an entrepreneurial spirit. You thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, fluid environment. We continually review ranges to address skills, experience and markets.
