Position Summary: We need a Staff Software Engineer to build AI services for our Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) systems. You will build autonomous agents to process Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), navigate payer rules, and automate billing workflows. Your work directly impacts how smoothly patients access our genetic testing by removing friction from the billing process.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy FastAPI services that wrap LLM calls, maintain stateful agent loops, and expose REST/GraphQL endpoints.
  • Build intelligent agents to handle unstructured medical documents using vision-augmented NLP and multimodal LLMs.
  • Develop agentic RAG pipelines to surface billing codes and payer-specific rules.
  • Containerize and operate the stack on AWS ECS/Fargate.
  • Own the infrastructure as code pipelines for daily deployments.
  • Instrument services with OpenTelemetry, Grafana, and Sentry to track denial rates and turnaround times.
  • Extend our React UI to let human operators launch agents and inspect evaluation traces.
  • Ensure all features meet HIPAA, SOC 2, and internal security benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Advanced Python development experience with a focus on FastAPI for asynchronous services.
  • Experience with LLM orchestration (LangGraph, CrewAI) and building agentic workflows.
  • Proficiency using AI-augmented development tools (Claude Code, Gemini, Cursor).
  • Experience with AWS infrastructure (ECS/Fargate, Lambda, S3) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience in medical billing, RCM, or healthcare technology.
  • Ability to process unstructured healthcare data and work with multimodal AI.
  • Clear communication skills to align requirements across compliance, finance, and engineering.
  • A production-first mindset. You operate and monitor the code you write.
  • Ability to build inside regulated healthcare frameworks. We treat quality and compliance as features.

Nice to Have

  • Experience integrating external applications with a LabVantage LIMS.
  • Experience configuring and upgrading LabVantage LIMS to support order-to-result workflows.
  • Front-end web programming experience with modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Angular).
  • Knowledge of Typescript and relational databases (Oracle).
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location. This may differ in other locations due to cost of labor considerations.
