Staff Software Engineer, Full Stack (Node, React)

I'm Laura Schmidlein, Manager, Engineering at Teamworks. Our Nutrition platform supports dietitians and athletes with personalized meal planning and performance insights, and it's growing fast — including expansion into APAC and EU markets. I'm looking for a Staff Engineer who can lead the technical direction of this platform, raise the bar for the team, and drive cross-platform initiatives that connect Nutrition with the broader Teamworks ecosystem.

This is a small, focused team where your influence will be felt across the organization. You'll be shaping architectural decisions, mentoring engineers, and owning some of the most complex work we have in front of us.

• Lead architectural direction for large-scale features across our web and mobile applications built with TypeScript, React, React Native, and Node.js

• Lead expansion initiatives into APAC and EU markets, including designing and implementing new food database integrations with evolving schemas and localization requirements

• Drive cross-platform projects that require system-level thinking and collaboration across multiple Teamworks teams

• Improve reliability, scalability, security, and developer experience by identifying and prioritizing meaningful technical debt

• Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration to raise overall team capability

• Partner closely with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, challenge assumptions, and influence technical strategy

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building production applications using TypeScript, React, React Native, and Node.js across both frontend and backend systems

• Proven track record of leading architectural decisions and delivering complex full-stack features at scale

• Strong system design skills with experience designing distributed systems and cross-system integrations

• Experience operating in cloud environments (AWS) with solid understanding of infrastructure as code (Terraform) and modern CI/CD practices

• Demonstrated ability to mentor and elevate engineers, improving team-wide technical quality and decision-making

• Strong collaboration skills with experience influencing cross-functional teams and driving alignment

• You have experience implementing microfrontend patterns such as module federation or shared component architectures

• You have strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, data modeling, and API paradigms (REST and/or GraphQL)

• You have a background in sports technology, performance platforms, or athlete-focused products

Nutrition is a growing product with real complexity ahead — new markets, new integrations, and a platform that needs to scale alongside an expanding user base.
