About Andesite:

After decades defending the nation's most sensitive networks, we founded Andesite with a clear mission: to build security products that transform how humans and AI collaborate to defend against increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.

We’re a diverse team of cyber and security experts, passionate technologists, and experienced product builders. We come from some of the largest national security, tech, cybersecurity, and data organizations on the planet.

We've raised more than $38 million from investors like General Catalyst and Red Cell Partners.

The future of cybersecurity isn't about better technology alone—it's about reimagining how humans and machines work together. Come build with us.

The Role:

At Andesite, we are building a product suite to supercharge cyber security analysts. As a Staff Frontend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing our application frontend systems that enable cyber security analysts to get maximum value from data sources for our next generation cybersecurity product.

What You Will Do:

  • Build and Innovate: Lead the design and development of sophisticated and intuitive user interfaces for our product. You'll translate complex user requirements into elegant and user-friendly frontend experiences.
  • Set the Bar for Engineering Excellence: As a senior technical leader, you'll establish best practices for frontend development, ensuring high-quality, performant, and reliable code. You'll advocate for modern frontend technologies and patterns.
  • Lead Design & Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers and designers to define and refine user experiences. You'll be a key voice in shaping the visual and interactive aspects of our data products, ensuring they are both powerful and delightful to use.
  • Mentor & Elevate the Team: Guide and mentor junior frontend engineers, helping them grow technically and professionally. You'll foster a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the team.
  • Cross-Functional Impact: Contribute to API and backend development as well as partner with team members developing those. Your understanding of both frontend and data systems will be crucial.

Required Qualifications:

  • Passion for delivering products that delight customers that use next generation AI technology
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of frontend development experience with modern UI frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue, or Svelte, with at least 4 years of that experience in React.
  • Experience developing responsive, scalable frontends and APIs leveraging expertise in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
  • Experience with cloud-based solutions (AWS, GCP, Azure) and familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience working in an early stage (Seed / Series A) startup
  • Proficiency in backend / infrastructure development, especially in Python
  • Proficiency developing robust developer APIs

What We Can Offer:

  • A competitive salary, bonus, and equity package
  • 100% employer paid, comprehensive health insurance including medical, dental, and vision for you and your family
  • Unlimited PTO, with your manager’s approval
  • Flexible work environment where you manage your work day
  • A remote-first environment, with occasional travel to collaborate with customers, your team, and teammates from across the company in person
  • 14 weeks of fully-paid parental leave

Salary range: $200,000-$260,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience, skills, and other factors.

What you need to know about the Los Angeles Tech Scene

Los Angeles is a global leader in entertainment, so it’s no surprise that many of the biggest players in streaming, digital media and game development call the city home. But the city boasts plenty of non-entertainment innovation as well, with tech companies spanning verticals like AI, fintech, e-commerce and biotech. With major universities like Caltech, UCLA, USC and the nearby UC Irvine, the city has a steady supply of top-flight tech and engineering talent — not counting the graduates flocking to Los Angeles from across the world to enjoy its beaches, culture and year-round temperate climate.

Key Facts About Los Angeles Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 375,800; 5.5% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Snap, Netflix, SpaceX, Disney, Google
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, adtech, media, software, game development
  • Funding Landscape: $11.6 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Strong Ventures, Fifth Wall, Upfront Ventures, Mucker Capital, Kittyhawk Ventures
  • Research Centers and Universities: California Institute of Technology, UCLA, University of Southern California, UC Irvine, Pepperdine, California Institute for Immunology and Immunotherapy, Center for Quantum Science and Engineering
